TARGET Script Editor
-
Hi Gents,
Wondering if anyone else is experiencing a problem with the TARGET Script Editor. I use it with my Warthog Loading up Morphine’s profile. It runs the script fine and it stops the script but I do find it hangs the editor. Does anyone else have this problem? V3.0.16.615 I think I have the latest. Perhaps a reinstall is in order but I don’t think so. What ends up happening is when I go to shut down the hung app won’t let Windows 10 shutdown. If I force a reboot I lose my Stick which I just reinstall the driver and it’s fixed again. The big problem is that it will blow out my DX settings for other sims like DCS etc.

I get TARGET hangs on script stop too and I’m using a similar but not identical script. Do you use TeamSpeak? I found that I got hangs much more when I ran it too and it was partially fixed by running certain programs as administrator.
I also get the Win10 fails to shutdown hang which is probably the TmService service to blame.

I cannot speak to the editor but I have also seen what Frederf is talking about with the script being very slow to exit. The fix I found has nothing to do with messing around with admin but with simply making sure I shut down TrackIR and TeamSpeak prior to stopping my TARGET script. This makes it so it exits clean and quickly as it should.
I am not running Morphine’s profile but one I built myself.

That’s exactly right… It is the TmService that hangs… Wonder if we will get any sort of support out of TM on this. Perhaps open a ticket because I don’t think it’s a one off

I will give this a go. It could be interfering with other programs.

I dont know if that will help or not, but personally, I’m running my Warthog script with a .bat script. That is basically a text file with command line instructions in it. This way, the script is run automatically and you dont have to wait for the TARGET GUI to run.
Running a particular profile is easily done with the following (things after // are comments and should not be copy pasted) :
cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\Thrustmaster\TARGET\x64" //this line is to change the "working" command line directory into the installation folder of Target - the one containing TARGETGUI.exe start TARGETGUI.exe -r "C:\Users\ ... \yourscript.tmc" //fill in the path to your script
You can combine that with another shortcut to run the BMS launcher. My complete script looks like this :
@echo off //this ensures that the command line will not stop when launching a program and wait for said program to finish cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\Thrustmaster\TARGET\x64" start TARGETGUI.exe -r "C:\Users\ ... \yourscript.tmc" cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1" //your BMS installation folder start Launcher.exe exit
To run it as administrator, and be sure to restart the TARGET service all the time, the easiest trick is to have a shortcut to it and add “run as administrator” in the advanced properties of said shortcut.

The hang on target quit is related to windows 10 and the thrustmaster DeviceManagementApp. The purpose of this program is to restore the individual components from the trustmaster combine after the script stops.
Since windows 10 now does this automatically, the windows and the app race to restore the joystick. If windows wins you get hang and the thrustmaster app won’t quit. Since the app can’t be killed windows won’t shutdown and you have to hard restart. The solution is to delete DeviceManagementApp in the target folder.
This is solely a Win 10 fix, if you’re running 7 and delete this app, you may break the functionality of target.
The app is located in Thrustmaster -> Target -> x64.
