On call Cas
-
Hi, I appreciate this may be a simple question, getting a simple answer.
However, I have just successfully completed a mission run, on ground targets, and made it back to the base.
I was wondering, what does this ON CALL CAS mean specifically, I am assuming a new mission will be allocated, do I wait? or do I jump straight in with another mission already in flight ?
Be interested to know how this is meant to work correctly, especially if its a MP session.
Thanks

To keep it simple and possibly not idiotic, on call CAS missions suppose there is a Fac(A) committed, usually an aircraft with good A/G sensors, often an A10. In the sim, the Fac(A) plays the role of the AWACS and is used the same way, except she/he gives you bullseye coordinates of ground targets - and keeps feeding you with air intelligence as well.
In this video, I roleplay with and use this AI Fac(A) during a on call CAS. Skip to 18:00

Yup, you don’t have to task a FAC in bms but I always do just for the extra immersion. If you do however, you’ll get most, if not all, replies from them when you use the awacs comm menu, regaedless if you ask for a picture or direction to target.

Thanks so much for the input.
I understand what ON CALL CAS is doing for us in flight now, and thanks for the video.
I was referring also, to the end mission menu, when there are a number of Campaign missions available in the list, of which you can click onto.
Some have already taken flight, and I believe are highlighted in cyan, some on the ground with a not yet reached takeoff time.
It seems you can jump in on any of the missions, I can see the game is making the theater continue in real time, which is good, but, do you not keep the same call sign, return home, and then have allocated missions, or could you just sit there and not take any missions, and the campaign will play out ?
It probably reads more complex than what it is, but I would like to know to know how this works.
Many Thanks

Yes, the campaign will play out without you, and callsigns are assigned to flights, but not to you specifically.
If you don’t fly in more than two hours though, your side will artificially suffer from it on the large scale.
In the beginning, you will want to fly already planned missions to get used to the dynamic campaign, but when you want to design your own flights, then missions, all that will be clear and smooth to you.

Is there a way to increase the no fly penalty time?

Pretty sure I read it somewhere, but I can’t find it in the manual nor in the forums.

Here finally. But quite nebulous number.
