Which throttle have idle and AB detent ? Help me choose a new HOTAS please
-
Hello,
I’m thinking about re-buying a HOTAS because I wanna get back to Falcon soon
I used to have an X52 but I’d like to upgrade, the X52 has idle & AB detent so do you know if there’s also detents in one of the following HOTAS ?Saitek X55, X56, X65F
Thrustmaster Warthog
Logitech G940
I’m not asking about the X52 pro because I suppose it has them right ? …right ?Also if any of you own an X52 and one of the joysticks above, can you please tell me if there are things that are better in the X52 or X52pro
The main things I disliked with the X52 is the look and that the stick had like no resistance. So I’m not sure if it’s worth it buying another HOTAS if I lose too many/important features. -
Hello Tunechi. I can only speek of TM Warthog in Your list above. It have detents, You have to lift the throttle from full military to get it in AB, and the same from idle to cut-off. The AB detent is easy removable if You do not like it or sometimes also fly birds without a fterburner. I like the stiffness of the joystick. I am very satisfied. Hope You find what You seek. Cheers

Saitek X-55 TQS does not have any detents. The X-65F has both idle and afterburner detents.

Not only this but there is a switch that registers going into cutoff/coming out of cutoff on the TM WH so that with some excellent TARGET coding from Morphine that I borrowed for my own profile the throttle behaves exactly like the F-16 for start up and shut down of the aircraft engine.

TM Cougar Throttle also has adjustable throttle idle and AB detents. It does not have an idle switch like Warthog does. My minor criticism of Warthog throttle detents is they consume at least half of the total available throttle travel.

Tunechi,
I just upgraded from the X 52, which I really liked, to the Warthog. Wow, what an upgrade. There are lots of nice profiles to try, I’m going with Rybo right now, but all the guys have done a fantastic job with their profiles.
I almost got a cougar, but I just didn’t want something without a warranty, and that breaks down unless you do mods. However, if he didn’t sell it yet, Ice has a force mod warthog stick and an unmodded cougar throttle.
I like the idle and afterburner detent of the Warthgo, it just took me a day to get use to it. I do miss how the X 52 fit so easily in my hands, but the Warthog rocks! Bonus, if you throw it at someone it should at least knock em out, I don’t think being hit by an X 52 would hurt that much. I don’t think you really lose anything upgrading, its a great upgrade. Just allow yourself sometime to get use to it. The main con is the price, but this is built to last, you can get a 3 year warranty at Amazon just to be super safe, and if you are addicted to this game and know you will be flying for years, then I would get the Warthog.
If you want a throttle that is just like the F-16, and you are willing to tinker around, get the mods, you may want to go with the cougar. Ice has a great deal that you can look into. The only thing that stopped me was not wanting to take apart the throttle when it would eventually break, or try to get mods, and stuff.
I don’t think you can go wrong with the Warthog or Cougar.
