Key File Editor

Thanks guys but what about mapping buttons on my x45?

DirectX… you’ll need to open up “Devices & Printers”>Gamecontroller>properties & note the numbering of your buttons… Then go into BMS-setup, press the button that corresponds to the first button & then look under the “Advanced” button, you’ll see “INPUT Button X”… Note X & then go into the keyfile… Your first directX button (usually the first stage of the trigger, i.e. if you have a 2-stage trigger, or else simply the trigger) should then be mapped onto X, second directX button onto X+1, and so on… This is because BMS numbers the buttons according to the order of devices that are connected… Also note that you can have a shifted layer by holding “pinky shift”… By default the offset is 256 but you can verify that in “falcon bms.cfg” located in BMS-install-folder>User>Config… Here’s an example:
SimTriggerFirstDetent X -1 -2 0 0x0 0
If you need more help, send me a PM with some TS info or a request for a voicechat so I can set something up…
EDIT: about that offset, you basically do the same this but instead of using X, you use X+256…

You might find the BMS Keyfile Manual in the BMS\Docs folder a useful reference.

The more you use it, the more sense it makes. If you have any questions, I’m sure you’ll easily get help here…. but yeah, those docs are really good!

Think he means the keyfile is XLS so without MS office no joy of using the tool
but I believe you can use something like http://www.ksosoft.com/free-excel.html which should be able to use the editor with out office
-
Yeah, that’s just the one module.
This freeware Office suite has a Writer that can open MS .docs, a Spreadsheet that opens MS Excel .xls files and a Presentation app, plus it has .PDF tools.
Of course they have a Premium download but the Freeware version is pretty good.

I have Ms Office but can’t find the product key anymore
Also I remember having problem with the key file editor in that it wouldn’t let me import my key file, eventually I gave up on trying using it. I’ll stick with the basic
Thanks, Marc…

You can also try LibreOffice…
If it doesn’t work out, don’t hesitate to send me a PM so I can help you with your keyfile… As I already said, I will gladly help you out cause I know for a fact that setting up controls can be quite difficult & frustrating… I’ve had squadron members simply giving up on BMS because of that so that’s why I try to push people until they let me help them cause I’ve got quite some experience with it, drastically reducing the time needed to set up your stuff… -
The game itself when possible and Notepad2 when not.
Make changes one at a time if in any doubt of their validity.
Keep your last working version(s) until the new version works. -

It’s going to take a lot more for me to give up
Thanks, Marc -
Yeah, I’m going to stick with Notepad
