New player looking for newbie friendly squadron
-
I was looking for some thread like this, but I was unable to find any. I just recently installed BMS for first time and I am aware that every squadron/server is looking for pro pilots, but I was hoping a bit that there is someone out there, perhaps a squadron, who would like to teach new player how to fly this thing.
I am 42 yo, flying from ages when “PC” had power of todays average calculator. I am mostly flying FSX and recently I started to fly SU 25T in DCS world. Si I know a lot about flying, but not much about combat planes and combat itself. My main focus is ground attack, but I would like to learn as much as I can.
I am from EE (GMT +2) so EU based server is prefered. As of gear I got thrustmaster hotas X, I3, radeon r7 250 1gb ram, and I am working on head tracking system now. Should be nuff i hope.
Feel free to send me message.
Tommy

Hey Tommy (great name). I’d recommend you study the BMS manual(s) for a while and get more familiar with the aircraft systems, checklists, and the simulator itself before venturing to a wing. It’s not so much that they’re all looking for pro pilots, but there needs to be a basic skill set in place before attempting to fly with a VFW. Definitely we are all very open to answering newbie questions, but training someone totally green is a massive undertaking in and of itself, let alone trying to teach the various TTP that wings provide on top of that.
Most of all your questions are answered in the BMS-Manual and BMS-Training as well as the -1 and -34 included in your “Docs” folder in the BMS installation. There are about 17 training sorties that Red Dog and Darkman put together with a pilot just like you in mind, so I think you’ll find many of your questions answered there. Once you get through that work, then I’d recommend applying to the VFW of your choice. There are many great places to fly within this community that will be more than happy to take you in, once you put in this initial leg work.
Just my advice, I wish you luck and welcome to the community!

+1 about BMS-Training.pdf, and BMS-Manual.pdf too, that are done for people like I used to be, and like you are. They get you in shape very quickly, at the pace you choose.
There is the Falcon Lounge for people who are trying to fly without necessarily belonging to a squadron, link in my signature. -
PMs have been sent to Aries101 & WurminatorZA… They might just fit right in the squadron I’m part of…

Hello Aries101 !
As @LorikEolmin said, try the Falcon Lounge Community (Discord chat)… It is not a squadron but many pilots are around to share knowledge with you!
