Having issues Programming Cougar MFD's??
-
Hi Guys,
I decided to post this as I have not seen any other posts with issues like this… The problem I am having is ingame I have selected Dunx Profile then I go to Program my MFD’s some buttons program others dont…
Now I have never had issues Programming my MFD’s as long as I have had them in BMS… Now just to let you know they are oriented correctly as I checked in Windows and every button press works in Windows through the Thrustmaster Control Panel…
I thought it was a bad install so I wiped it clean and reinstalled and then I had problems programming the left MFD as last time it was the right mfd…
Now neither one of them seem to be working properly… I can program LMFD button 1 and 2 then when I got Program button 3 nothing…
I had just installed a fresh Windows 10 64bit Home version after I secure wiped the SSD Drive… I am unsure what is going on but I am unable to program all the buttons on both MFD’s…
Everything else on the PC seems to be working ok… here are some system specs:
1. Asus Strix ROG z270H Gaming motherboard.
2. i5 7600K Kaby Lake at 4.5ghz…
3. 16GB Corsair RAM…
4. eVGA 980GTX 376.33 Please dont say update drivers as I never had issues before with these drivers and because of the nature of my Niche system I will not update…5. Sound Blaster Z Card…
I beleive everything besides the nVidia drivers are latest and greatest including BIOS as I just Updated to the latest today…
Other then something wrong with BMS I cant think why the buttons are not being programmed properly…

OK apparently I am an idiot. I was double clicking in the wrong spot and I need only click the slot once then press the corresponding button on the mfd. so it was all user error…
Man I thought I was still being hacked but I guess not this time… so all is good now man do I feel dumb but better to ask a dumb question then get a stupid answer

When you say programming, how are you doing it? They are literally plug and play with BMS, and with BMS’s DX Shifting you can assign secondary functions to all the buttons without ever even installing TARGET
-
Well with the Dunx Profile I have to manually enter they keys to get them to work. I dont see it being plugn’play as you say…
I load Dunx Profile and then goto the LMFD and then press the OSB 1 in the key options in BMS then press the corresponding button on the mfd to program it as they are not programmed correctly…

I’m confused.
If you have a HOTAS Cougar and 2 Thrustmaster MFDs (1st, 2nd & 3rd in your USB Game Controllers list respectively) and you’re using the Dunc_DX keyfile then the MFDs (and the HOTAS of course assuming you’ve followed the instructions in the document included within the Dunc_DX folder) are already set up, without any additional programming.
Only if you want to use the rocker switches on the right side of the MFDs do you need to do any programming and you can do that in the SETUP > CONTROLLERS page as normal.

OK I am confused as well… I did as you suggested and noiw in my USB Game controller window the installed game controllers are in this specific order:
1. HOTAS Cougar Joystick.
2. F16 MFD 1 (Left)
3. F16 MFD 2 (Right)
4. Saitek Pro Flight Combat Rudder Pedals…Now I went into BMS and loaded BMS - Dunc_DX.key file and when I press the left MFD Buttons it shows I am pressing the Right MFD… the Right MFD just shows key presses and not a corresponding MFD Button…
I just tried both TMM, TMJ files and both had the same affect neither worked in other words… I press the left MFD buttons and in BMS Controller setup it shows I am pressing the RIGHT MFD when I am in fact pressing the left MFD… I confirmed this in the USB Controller setp page…
Now either I am still doing something wrong which I probally am or there is an bug in the Profile?? Now the button presses show they are programmed to the left - Right MFD but when I press the buttons they are wrong…

Unmodified keyfile copied from the Docs folder?
DX shifting set to 256 (as per Dunc_DX manual)?
If you’ve followed the instructions in the manual step by step I don’t know what else to suggest, it just works as advertised for me, though I’m not beta-testing Windows 10 for Microsoft, so I don’t know if that’s a factor. -

in falcon user/config device sorting file you can change it

Indeed it’s worth checking if the order of your devices in DeviceSorting.txt (in the \User\Config folder) is the same as Windows. See page 50 of the BMS-Manual for more information on this issue and how to easily fix it.
If Windoze 10 is convinced that your MFDs are still plugged in the other way around, all evidence to the contrary, and you have confirmed the order in DeviceSorting.txt is the same can you just try unplugging the USB plugs and swapping them? I’m not convinced that will work, but it’ll be really funny if it does

Hey WOW,
Thank you guys so much for helping that did the trick… I checked page 50 in the manual and there it was the fix was there all the time sorry for not investigating further on my own but you guys where great this time…
Well at least we have this thread for future reference with the answer
