With ACMI the level in many case is identical to 3d flight.
The issue is that the resolution will have to be slightly different.
So or from capture cut out the acmi UI or if you go full screen afterwards you must cut out the UI and resize the video. -

So or from capture cut out the acmi UI or if you go full screen afterwards you must cut out the UI and resize the video.… and I would have to manually select the views, which is a lot more work than expected, and not compatible with the extensive use I’d imagine. Other than that, it was a good idea, less beautiful because of resolution, easy to cut, it just lacks an Action Camera setting. An external ACMI viewer maybe, of the same quality, with this camera?
I made an experimental video to illustrate the point of this idea a bit better. I rewrite its description here. More ideas welcome, obviously. Thanks for your interest so far.
Plugged 2 clients on my host.
Used 1st for usual simming
Used 2nd for cold aicraft nearby, battery lit, tuned on UHF15 (for radio comm effect purpose), Action Camera on
Used my 1st client as usual to play my TE.
During video editing: used cockpit view of 1st when 2nd’s Action Camera focused on the cold aircraft, and used Action Camera almost all the time otherwise.Now I’d like to find a way to Action Camera a package on TE or Campaign Mission, even while it’s getting far from 2nd client’s cold aircraft…
(Refuel is quick because lots of fuel from start, dedicated TE for test)

If video editing was easy and not labor intensive everyone would do it… Ok sarcasm aside–I did mention it would be labor intensive to try the ACMI method. Some questions though:
How powerful is the rig you are using? You can always play the game in a higher resolution than your desired end result video (I’m guessing you want a 1080 video?) and down-convert everything to the desired resolution using the video editing software. This, combined with a little scaling, can account for the missing UI areas of the video captured from ACMI. For that matter, ACMI is just data being fed into the 3D, so I THINK you could play at one resolution and then up the resolution for the ACMI playback and it would render the ACMI in the higher resolution. I have never tested that, but it seems logical in my mind.
What is the TRUE desired end result from the action cam? With a little work, and some free macro software, you can recreate it in the ACMI playback, or more precisely, you can create your own specific “views” with camera rotation and movement specifically how you want it, and not be explicitly tied to the choices the action cam makes. As I said before, good video editing takes time, patience, and lots of experimenting. But the end result in putting forth the effort is the difference in a home video vs a blockbuster…

If you go outside the box a bit you might very well be able to get what you are looking for using your method, but hard to advise without a little more info. You could put the tanker on the other PC instead of a cold aircraft, or an enemy plane with combat ap enabled for combat footage. Lots of options depending on the desired outcome.

U have multiple cameras in acmi. Have ai close to your aircraft or not. U can scale from within acmi viewer the size of aircraft.

Same as the recorded flight, or same as the settings for 3D flight? I would think if you do a flight at one setting, then change your resolution in settings before you bring up the ACMI, it will render with the current 3D settings, regardless of how it was captured. I believe the ACMI is just position and object data that the 3D engine ingests and produces, so it should always render with the current settings.

Yes acmi is just data. It replays those data at the resolution u set.
U can chose every object as center and as target all other objects. Depending on view selections u make from within acmi ui.sent from my mi5 using Tapatalk

I’m doing some progress on these questions, but for now I still need to experiment.
I’m looking for something in particular: I believe there is a file where I can tweak some settings about external views. I can’t find it, does this or these file(s) exist(s)?

No, so, I just did. I only found how to edit TopGun views, you probably don’t think of that, what else did you have in mind? It is still the Action Camera I’m trying to tweak.
