Advice moving A/C such as JanHas to another theater:
-
I have my Korea DB full of mod A/C. I have learned the basics to LOD editor and I would like to know if I can move the A/C I have installed in Korea theater into another theater without installing with LOD editor. Do I have to reinstall or can I move the DDS files and the acdat? If I can just move parts of the DB over that would be much easier than reinstalling with LOD editor.
I was thinking about trying to move a JanHas A/C without using LOD editor but moving all the dat files and see what happens. Is that a bad idea?

Moving just the Skins(dds files) and the dat(FM) files only isn’t going to work. The skins and FM’s go to specific JanHas models and have specific references to his models, i.e, dds #'s, FM name. If anything is cross numbered, you’ll pork skins on other aircraft(s).
In essence you are not moving anything related to the DB. The only thing DB related is the LOD files, the aircraft models of JanHas’, and you don’t want to add them to another theaters DB. It’s an all or none deal.
So in the end, yes, Bad idea.

As said, it’s not going to work, and you can’t simply copy across the KoreaOBJ file either. No choice but to manually install it. You could copy the files from a friend with an identical install who has already installed the LODs into the theatre, but I wouldn’t recommend it. Too many unknown variables that could have been forgotten etc. It doesn’t take long to install the Viper models
