DTC Save/Load (in GUI)
-
Now I’m sure there is nothing wrong with my install. It’s just the behaviour of BMS!
I was always referring to missions where I do perform a ramp start (eg. LGB Training Ramp Start). Choosing/Loading a TE or a Training mission clears everything in the callsign.ini apart the “basic” settings like COMs (tower frequency) and MFD setups -> these settings remain and can be loaded. But Target STPTs are cleared.
In the campaign the behaviour of DTC Save/Load is exactly as described in the manual = Target STPTs remain in the callsign.ini and can be loaded next time.

Pretty much a one and done deal with TE’s. So that seems to me to be the correct behavior!

Shouldn’t be “loading” the DC in the UI for a training mission.
Actual I cant think or remember when its necessary to load the DC in the UI, C9 might have a answer there.

Not if you repeat the same training mission over and over again to get things right…
I’ve done the LGB Ramp training mission approximately 25 times. Still, the red crane lives on! -
Training TE’s are already saved TE’s, so try making your own TE and see if the behavior is different. Make sure you save the TE you create just before you are ready to click take off.

I’m not talking about the fact that you can run a TE(Tactical Engagement)/TRN(Training) mission over and over.
I’m talking about the code and how it behaves in a TE/TRN file when it is ran and finished, it is a finite amount of time, unlike campaigns, when a TE/TRN mission is finished, it’s all done, thus no more stpt info to save or to load.
It basically degausses itself.
Training TE’s are already saved TE’s
Although they are included in the TE section of the game, they’re actually not TE’s(.TAC files), they are .TRN(Training) files.
This behavior may only be in Training missions, as I haven’t tested each to compare.

THANK YOU! This is the explanation I was looking for!
(And although this makes sense, it would be nice if I would not have to enter my target steerpoints everytime new…)@Cloud:

I’ve checked that!
I’ve manipulated some training missions and saved them as TEs (eg. switching the whole training mission from day to night).
So I also have a “cloned” TE mission of the LGB Ramp training mission. The DTC save/load behaviour is exactly the same in training and in TE.

Cloning .TRN files into .TAC files, although it’s possible, .TRN files aren’t conducive to that. So the result might not be something good to use for testing purposes.
You could try creating a TE, going into the Victory Conditions and have the TE run for a day. Start Time, Day 1 0900, End Day 2 0900.
And see if it still deletes the info. It’s still a finite time but who knows, it may work? But if the code behavior is set in stone, then it wouldn’t?(notice my question marks…lol)
