MFD extraction after 4.33 U1-U3 update not working properly
-
I was using BMS 4.33 and had it just about set up the way I wanted. I was able to extract the MFD’s without much issue. I updated my system to BMS 4.33 U1-U3. Now when I try to sim extractor for the MFD’s, the sim opens in “windowed” mode. If I do not enable the MFD’s via the Config option, the sim works as intended less the extracted MFD’s.
I have been all over this forum and found some info from 2014 but it doesn’t seem relevant to my issue at hand.
Any help would be greatly appreciated to helping me figure out how to get my jet up and running with the use of my extracted MFD’s.

May I recommend yame64.com instead of MFDE

What are you actually trying to achieve? If you do not enable MFD extraction, they won’t work. Are you trying to run the sim in windowed mode but with MFD extraction? If yes, add -window to the command line in the desktop shortcut options dialogue.
-
Don’t use the build in extractor it’s an fps killer. YAME is your solution. MFDE won’t work with u3.
-
It does open in windowed mode when using the extraction. Seeing the window whilst in 2D is unavoidable and I think useful since you can still see and access your desktop. With border turned off in extractor setup you will not see window in 3D world.
Yame is good but I can run the supplied extraction just fine. All depends on your PC if the FPS loss is any issue or not.

While you haven’t given us enough information to be sure it seems you are confusing the BMS extraction tool with MFDE.
You only need to have set g_bExportRTTTextures 1 in your falcon bms.cfg file (it is 1 by default) to enable shared memory for MFD extraction. From BMS-Manual page 243:
_g_bExportRTTTextures_This enables the shared texture memory area for HUD/MFDs/
HMCS/RWR/DED/PFL. This is independent from BMS external
window usage. Available options: 0/1. Default = 1.
Please note: this option must be enabled (1) for MFDE to work.If you have set g_bUseExternalWindows 1 using the Configuration tool (Hardware > External Displays > Cockpit Displays to External Windows) you are enabling BMS extraction, which is why you find yourself running in windowed mode. From BMS-Manual page 236:
_g_bUseExternalWindows_Enables rendering of cockpit displays to external windows and
forces windowed mode on (when enabled). External display
management is made with the Cockpit Display Extraction app
available from the Launcher menu. Options: 0/1 – Default is 0.Don’t use the build in extractor it’s an fps killer. YAME is your solution. MFDE won’t work with u3.
Please don’t post incorrect information.
Update 3 will work with MFDE just the same as Update 2. The BMS extraction tool does not have much impact on framerate on AMD cards; NVIDIA cards will see more of a framerate penalty and while it is by no means a framerate killer you should consider using the RTT Remote tool included in your install, YAME, or MFDE for MFD extraction if you have an NVIDIA card.

Yeap Darkman you are right and I apologise.
I was speaking for my system which is an NVIDIA based one.
MFDE worked for me fine for several months on u3 but suddenly without a reasonable cause it stopped working. I think YAME 64 is very easy and user friendly and for my system…fps friendly too. Thanks!Στάλθηκε από το SM-A510F μου χρησιμοποιώντας Tapatalk

I really appreciate the help and I have tried what you have suggested Darkman and that is not the problem.
Let me try to explain a little better what I hope to achieve. I have a 5 monitor system, 3 monitors to display the cock pit. They are 21 inches I believe. I have 2* 8 inch monitors to run the MFD’s. I am using the BMS extractor and have not tried any third party extractors yet. I was flying BMS 4.33 and was able to use of extracted MFD’s and there was no issue. I upgraded to 4.33 U1-U3 and now i have an issue. I do not want the sim in windowed mode as I can not use my Warthog for what ever reason while in windowed mode.
I am use and AMD graphics card that uses Eyefinity to control the 3 main monitors. My monitors are HDMI all going to one multi display port. The 8 inch are USB which are controlled via windows 10.
My PC has an AMD FX 4300 Quad-core Processor 3.80 GHz, 8GB of RAM,
This is what it looks like when i “turn on” or set value to 1 for the “Cockpit display to External windows”
This is how it opens when i turn off the external displays “Cockpit display to External windows”
This is my windows configuration. I am running 5760 x 1080 across the three monitors.
So I want to be able to fly the sim in full screen and NOT in windowed mode as I can not use my Warthog. I did not have any issues with the setup of MFDs when i used 4.33.

Sometimes the simple things are forgotten!!! Have you set “borders” for the “main” sreen to off?
Working with 7 Monitors in my pit wth no issues!

Yes, I have checked borders on and off with no effect. It displays in “Windowed mode” only when I check the extract button.

A few issues that you’ll want to work on here:
1. The Warthog should work whether you’re on windowed or in fullscreen mode. You’ll need to find what’s causing this.
2. Your monitor layout is unnecessary. Just put the two small monitors on the LEFT SIDE of your main screen. Much easier calculating your extraction coordinates that way. Or just use YAME and no need to calculate coordinates.
3. Get YAME. Fly fullscreen. Solved. -

Well maybe for most MFDE will work - but a lot of people had issues with MFDE not working anymore all of a sudden - me included.
My advice for this group: use internal extraction if you don´t mind to go windowed or use the fantastic YAME

I really appreciate the help and insight from you all. I was able to solve one issue of flying my sim NOT in windowed mode. I was able to do that by installing and using YAME. So i shall see how long this works for me.
As far as my Warthog when ever I flew the sim in windowed mode I would get a tone whenever I used a switch on the throttle. My side stick buttons and switches are not responded although I do have X and Y axis. I am using Mud’s profile and I will have to check the script next time I’m in the cockpit. I will check t make sure the call backs are right and that ever thing is reading right but that is a task for latter.
I really appreciate this forum and all of the help I received.

I will direct Mud to this thread. Like schnidrman, he is a close friend, we’re all in the same VFW.

Thanks C9,
I was able to get my Warthog up and running. It was an issue with my Devicesorting file in BMS. It was reading my Trustmaster combined as (1) when it should have read it as (0) So I had to change the order of my rudder and the TM in that file and Mud’s key file works like a charm!
After lots of practice i may give a VFW a shot. But I still have loads to learn.
Thanks for the help
