Autoreleasing bombs CCIP/CCRP

Hello,
I was wondering if there was a method of setting bombs to drop automatically in either ccip or ccrp mode when locked onto a target. -
Hello,
I was wondering if there was a method of setting bombs to drop automatically in either ccip or ccrp mode when locked onto a target.Nope. You have to use pickle to give consent for weapon release. CCRP does automatically release weapons; when it calculates the time to release to hit on target, but as said, you have to be holding pickle in advance to give consent.

They drop automatically after pressing the pickle button and I guess in real life thatâs a good thingy
Edit: arrrgh sniped

Not correct.
ou have to use pickle to give consent for weapon release.
⌠means that you have to hold the pickle. It is not an automatic drop but a consent. Not quite the same.

Thatâs the joke. By definition having to perform a manual action makes it non-automatic.

Hello,
I was wondering if there was a method of setting bombs to drop automatically in either ccip or ccrp mode when locked onto a target.AFAIK. No.
Beyond that all weapon systems have release parameters in real life and in BMS. So a MK82 slick will be different from a MK82 snakeye or MK82 AIR. You also have different release modes (CCIP, CCRP, etc.). What you are talking about sounds like pickle and forget (as opposed to fire and forget). So even if you could do auto pickle, youâd still have to fly the dumb bomb to the calculated release point. So it wouldnât even be pickle and forget, it would be pickle and fly to release. Which is what you have for MK82s and other unguided bombs except you are holding the pickle down but the release point will depend on weapon, aircraft speed and altitude etc. So again, your work is not done after the pickle regardless. And I get more reliable releases for dumb bombs when pickle and holding maybe 1 second or so before the drop cue bottoms out. The longer I hold the pickle button down it seems to me the more likely the bomb wonât come off. I have no idea why that is.
The closest thing we have to fire and forget for bombs are the JDAMs I suppose. They come off the rail without having to be lined up perfectly (because they can turn a bit during the drop) and you donât have to release at exactly the right moment, you can release after the drop cue starts ticking back up the drop line. Next, up are Paveways, those you can also release after the cue starts ticking back up but you (or someone) has to lase the bomb onto the target so there is work to be done after release.

I think itâs just an illusion. Maybe you just hold the pickle longer as your approach is not that stable?

Could be. But since I have went to the 1 or 2 second consent, bombs come off like clockwork.

There was an intermittent issue in older version that would cause the bombs not to release if you held the pickle for too long. Not sure if this has been corrected or not, but typically a 2-4 second hold prior to release point is sufficient and works well.

I was flying with a pilot last week (on 4.33.3) who was having a problem releasing via CCRP, he changed to pickle 1-2 seconds before release point rather than a longer hold and his bombs have released every time since. So it looks as though it may not be fixed.

It might be that he and I have controller issues and our controllers âloseâ the fact that pickle is being held down somehow. Iâve had this theory that the longer you hold the pickle the more likely that the pickle is âinterruptedâ somehow and then doesnât resend that the pickle is being held down unless you release the pickle and hold it down again. Itâs really all guessing on my part, but I wanted to share that I have thought this might be a controller driver/Windows/DirectX issue and may not be a BMS issue. That might explain why different folks get different mileage.
