Wartog

Can anyone recommend upgrading from Saitek x52 Pro to Wartog? And Can Wartog be used on Dx the same as Flounders?

When I upgraded to the Warthog I did so from a X52 non pro version and I can definitely recommend that. You can run the WH in DX mode but with it’s inherent limitations that apply to all joystick or HOTAS configs. I personally run with a keyboard emulation through the TARGET software so don’t have any personal experience with the WH and DX setups other than knowing basic DirectX limitations on game controllers.

Best purchase I ever made, and I too went from the X52. I love the warthog, and there are plenty of good profiles like Rybos, Morphines, Mudds, Ice’s and others to choose from. Its very easy to install target and then load up a profile from one of those guys. If you are committed to flying, get the warthog.

+1 for the Warthog. I’ve have fine for about three or four years after upgrading from an X52 Pro and it hasn’t missed a beat.
Absolutely changed the way I sim especially in DCS A10C and now BMS. You’ll love it.
Only thing is the prices have gone up a bit. I think I got mine for under $500.

- another 1 for the Warthog…and I’m leaning to buying a second one (stick only, now that you can do that).

Had my hog 5 years now, great piece of hardware. I use dx commands where possible and keyboard emulator for non dx commands.

For the WartHog, you really only need the TARGET software if you’re doing a lot of dual use mapping apart from the DX mapping you can do in the BMS mapping GUI and the BMS KEYMAPPING file. The WHog has two POV hats, one on each controller. BMS limits the use of only one POV and it must be the primary flight controller (with pitch and roll axes). So you either map the throttle’s POV like a 4-way DX switch without TARGET, or use TARGET to combine both WHog stick and throttle as one virtual controller, which BMS then sees as one primary controller. Then both POVs can be used as such within the TARGET profile, of which there are a few nice ones already done here in this forum area.

Hey Stevie… I seem to be all of a sudden having trouble LOCKING a target! “?” I have my TN warthog throttle with that thumb stick for my TQS RDR Cursor for the RIGHT LEFT, DOWN n UP but once I slew the bars over a given radar signature I cannot seem to lock it up when I press my thumb stick down. I have searched all over that menu in settings within Falcon to identify where a target LOCK command is.
Where is it?
What locks a target? -
+1 for all the above.

What locks a target?…yeah, you’d think that would be the way it works, wouldn’t you? It’ actually TMS->up on the stick that will establish the lock!
