AV8B Harrier
-
Hi everyone :D, do we have any news about this aircraft?…Is there anyone working any improvement on the future?
On my opinion, it’s an interesting aircraft, it give us a perspective different in our mp missions.
I have to tell that I’m happy with it and it´s a great work of BMS guys but would be interesting improve it little by little, of course inside of the capacities of a F16’s simulator.
Thanks and good job.;)

Did you mean you want a Matador ?

It is very well done and I’ve been very impressed by it, the flight model is fairly close to real life, demonstrating its powerful climb rate below approx 15,000 at pitch rates between 20-35 degrees at 300 knots (typical climb speed). Obviously runs viper avionics, but the AV-8B save the moving map isn’t all that much different, so you can easily not hold it against them
As far as the ramp start, it’s not quite there yet and I am not sure of what more they can simulate, for example there is no APU in Falcon and I don’t think you can simulate one in Falcon. The JFS on the Harrier isn’t called a JFS it’s called GTS which is what engages to start the engine, I think they called in JFS to minimize confusion for those transitioning between Viper and Harrier.
What’s cool about the Harrier is many of the TTP are similar to the Viper, just subsonic instead of supersonic of course! Very fun jet to fly…

Maybe we’ll get an assault ship to launch the Harrier from in 3-4 weeks.

It would be really cool if they had enough volunteers for a lead developer on each aircraft. Not that they would make the ultimate decisions about stuff but just to keep pushing each model. I think the Harrier is one of better models in the game! Well done BMS!

There are some things we can fix by ourselfs, for example:
Misaligned instrument lights:
Black texture on cockpit arc:
I’ve managed to fix those minor bugs:
Here you can try it: http://www.mediafire.com/file/52y0kd7wl577byp/Harrier_textures.zip

Thanks Abigor…good improvements.

The engine performance panel would make it realistic for me. The panel just under and to the right of the HUD and above the right MFD.
-
is there an ils function in the pit? i’m looking at the diagram and cannot find it.
-
Hi, yes, it doesn’t work, but unless in our “real” Harriers (Spanish Armada), the ILS is not ready to work, it needs an update.
I miss two things too, first, to be able to change the altimeter, and with the switch of vSTOL to have of possibility of change Flaps position.

Yes Viking, the fuel flow and the engine temperature at least.

fired for CAS from a hover…repeat, using finger mousepad and arrow keys, fired from hover… Soon crashed but was great.
true lies, the movie. Jamie Lee Curtis was fine well into her 50s

I don’t believe RW Harriers can fly ILS approaches from what I can gather in many documents related to the aircraft. Seems to be TACAN only, overheads, and visual approachs to a CL, SL or VL.

True statement…RL USA Harriers are not equipped with civilian ILS - if I remember right, they do have CV ILS, which is not the same system and is also a different system from TACAN.
