Majour problems… Updates an Harrier
-
I have spent days reading and following all the advice on installing BMS to the latest version to no avail. This is now putting me off continueing the fight. Im a massive sim fan and have clocked up thousands of hrs on them and in real life. Im so dissapointed that its all such hard work to set up. Iv tried everything. There is also no info online about how to get the harrier but i see loads of videos on you tube of ppl useing them. Noone explains how to even find it. I can assume that its in the U3 update as i have read that in the change logs but i cant install it! The file directorys are all slightly different on here to what i get when i install them. I played 4.0 years ago and loved it but i think i might just stick with DCS unless i can get some advice on here.
Thanks for your time -
what is the problem friend

I know several who have had problems installing found this tutorial to be helpful. Hope it will help you too.

The Harrier is selectable and flyable when you build your own Tactical Engagement (or TE) mission; it has been on the list of available aircraft since 4.32, I believe, so your current update status has nothing to do with the fact that you are unable to pick it for flying.

We got in touch in a Ready Room, it seems to be sorted, build 16068 and vectors to BMS-Training.pdf

Thanks all, after alot of fiddling iv sorted it and confirmed with a flight in My favourite plane, well chuffed…

It would be cool I think if BMS had a lead publisher and a wiki page for each aircraft. If you are about to respond that BMS is primarily focused on the F16 – I agree and I am not trying to change that – but one way to get new volunteers and new blood into BMS is by providing better access and support for the the things BMS has voluntarily included in its builds, so if it’s important enough to make those flyable and build pits for them it should also be important to find a way to highlight, promote, improve, and support those flyable airframes that so much work has already been done on. There’s a lot of members in this community that aren’t able to develop as a BMS core developer but they would be able to help with the support. Call it the BMS Auxillaries or whatever. Do not take away from present F16 development whatsoever, just bring in new help to support the sim a bit better.
And also, there may be an AV8 fan out there that is also a programmer guru that could bring moving maps to MFDs, but if you poo - poo F18, F22, A10C, Tornado, Mirage, Eurofighter, etc. fans you just decrease the likelihood of finding the gurus that could bring accurately modeled avionics and other nifty things to BMS. Seems like a win win to me.

If you build it, they will come.
I think you have a good idea there personally…

+1 on that, Vandal. Would be awesome to have a detailed page or documentation for each modelled aircraft.

People are so deeply hammered by marketing and very bad commercial practices and used to pay and install addons that they forgot that a good old simulator do no need addons
