Does anyone use BMS at a lower resolution than 1920x1080

1680x1050… and very happy with it!
-
3440x1440 certainly makes the MFDs nice and crisp
Are there forum rules for bragging too much?
J/K.
I cannot even get my old calc to multiply those numbers. “Out of range”

2560 x 1440, any higher and it hurtz.
And I would need a $1k GPU, ouch.

Depends on which computer I am using. My PC at home (6 years old and going strong) is 19201080. But I work away from home so I left it loney there. My laptop is a Mac, and the native resolution is 28801800. So I, depending on performance, either go native or run at 1440*900 (usually this)

Only switched to 16:9 months ago when my display PSU burned out. Used 1680x1050.
-
1900x1200 … but with the double resolution for the HUD/MFD/TGP/MAV turned off to keep the FPS up.

My 980Ti copes just fine. Same low FPS at busy bases as always, but I’m at 75+ most of the time

Haha… Left you similar msg yesterday on opentrack.git (interpolation of deadzones, 2 months ago) … My main PSU exploded a month back … funny thing
…1680x1050 = 16:10 (here also)

5896x1080 for my Falcon BMS display, a 1920x1080 touchscreen for my main instruments, and another 1920x1080 touchscreen for the left Aux console and other programs like TeamSpeak, hardware monitor, etc. All of this powered by a single 980Ti. For an interesting read about performance, check out my FPS testing thread.
Here is a picture of the rig “at work”…
What I’m interested in for those that game below 1920x1080 resolution –- why? I suspect people who do this are playing on a laptop?
-
why?
Are you for real? Do you honestly think we can all afford to buy such elaborate systems? Some of us live in the real world you know!

Um, a 1920x1080 24" screen is hardly an “elaborate” system as these can be had for the price of a 256GB SSD… or are those “elaborate” systems too?
Also, there exists a concept in the real world that should help in getting such elaborate systems… it’s called “overtime” -

Try working in a salaried management position then claiming overtime. Wake up son.

Try working in a salaried management position then claiming overtime. Wake up son.
Or just having a life outside a game.
EDIT:
I don’t say that to be mean. But to put it in perspective:
Every one of those monitors would probably cover a week of going out to the pub. Or a really nice date with an actual woman you met while at said pub. Or a monthly payment on a car. Nicer apartment. New TV. Flying lessons to be able to experience a form of your passion in real life. Fees for a sports club. Just saying there is more to life than Falcon, you would be hard pressed to use that rig for any other kind of gaming and not be absolutely annoyed by all the other stuff on the desk. -

I wasn’t talking about my setup, I was talking about a SINGLE 1920x1080 24" screen. Mine are 27" for the displays.

I’m not even in management…. no idea what “salaried management position” has to do with overtime.
Consider this though – if a foreigner can do this in under 5 years of being in the UK, all the while supporting a family (2 kids), wife only doing part-time work and studying at the same time, absolutely no access to any government benefits (part of the condition of my work visa), suffering a major event (father-in-law died) where we had to go home and had to fork out a lot of money to help the extended family, pay for wife+2 kids visa application, pay for 4 visa renewals, indefinite leave, english exams, Life in the UK exams, and citizenship for all 4 of us, all during the austerity period where salary has been capped since I worked here, well, somebody needs to wake up and it’s not me.Or just having a life outside a game.

I “fly” X-Wing and have a sizeable set of miniatures (Fantasy Flight Games). I also have loads for Armada, again, by Fantasy Flight games. WH40K armies, but not really big enough. Tau, Space Marines, and just starting Eldar. Quite a few boardgames. Magic The Gathering and Pokemon card games, as well as around 4 deckbuilding card games. Had a membership with a gliding club for a year (and thoroughly impressed even the regional gliding examiner, and have been flying my own aerotow since flight 1, thanks to skills developed from flight simming!) and had a few flights in a Cessna. More go-kart sessions than I’d care to admit and we’re setting up to try airsoft/paintball this year too. Car was bought 2nd-hand for cash and is a 7-seater 2010 model. Our first TV was bought for £200 from a guy who was upgrading from a 42" to 55" or something. Second TV was bought for £100 from someone else who was also upgrading, and we “donated” (free!) our first TV to a new family that just moved to the UK.
Hehehehe… so yeah, you’re probably right. I do have a life outside of PC simming, but it also consists of “gaming.” I don’t smoke and don’t really drink outside of social occasions like birthdays or anniversaries. We tend to be quite “smart” with our money but as “gaming” is one of our “luxuries,” we tend to be a bit more open on the spending on that front.
I think the best way to put this in perspective — a few of my colleagues here in the UK go on some really silly holidays once or twice a year, plus countless “nights out with the GF!” They probably spend £800 per holiday? Maybe another £400 a year on alcohol? We don’t do any of that… being new in the UK, the entire country is a holiday destination!! Growing up in a tropical climate means we don’t really stumble all over everybody and everything to get holidays in Turkey/Greece/Cyprus/etc.
So again, if a foreigner can build the above PC in under 5 years of being in the country, well… I don’t really know what to tell you.
-
Depends what part of the real world you live in……
Touche! I know a few simmers in Spain, Portugal, Brazil, and Italy (or was it Greece) that would totally agree with you there. Heck, if I was back home in the Philippines, there’s no way I could afford even a fraction of what I could here in the UK.
-
I really wasn’t trying to be mean. Just making a general statement for the onlookers. If gaming and simming is your big hobby then more power to you. It just goes both ways I guess is what I was getting at? I see far too often when people have hardware related questions the reply will be “get better hardware” or “I use this $1500 piece of hardware and it works great…”. But a lot of people have different interests and simming is not always the way of life for some as it is for others. I feel like it’s too easy for hard core guys to forget that YOUR setup is YOURS, and people shouldn’t be judged up or down for the level in which THEY choose to invest in their gaming (Or not invest for that matter). My comment was really more to put in perspective that some people do things outside of gaming and shouldn’t feel bad, or be made light of, when their other interests preclude them from having all the same bells and whistles. I’m sure everyone would love to have the front of an F16 lobbed off at the canopy hinge and delivered to the house for their own simming pleasure, but it just isn’t in the cards for most people.
Sorry if it came off kind of brash, that wasn’t my intent.
