Thrustmaster Hotas x
-
Hi there Trying to get the HOTAS X mapped to the game, but cannot for the life of me get the Throttle to work - and I haven’t even tried any of the other buttons yet. Stick works fine and controls aircraft but the “rudder controls” on the thottle (see attached) seem to control the engine.
Please assist with any config file that could assist!
Thanks for your assistance -
Ok - try reading some of the threads - feel a bit of a fool- found it and problem solved

So how was it fix for the benefit of the audience ?

I 've just installed Falcon 4 BMS myself and I had the very same problem using my Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X. What was happening was that the throttle is default mapped onto the wrong axis; you need to remap your throttle axis(Z-axis if I remember rightly) for the throttle in the controller settings page.
Me being totally new to Falcon 4 BMS, does anyone know how to adjust the roll/pitch reaction to the joystick? I want to have precise gentle Roll/pitch movement close to joystick centre, and then bigger dramatic roll/pitch movements when I make larger movements of my joystick. Is there a way to map this? Thanks.

Hi, I am afraid of no: HOTAS X is not supported by TARGET software, so you have no way to set your own curves for roll and pitch axes.
Maybe it can be made with some third party tool, but I am not aware of any of them. -
You can actually do some of this with vJoy and UCR (Universal Control Remapper) by assigning the axes to a virtual stick and modifying the dead zones and sensitivity for that stick. Takes a bit of doing to get it set up properly, but it’s a great tool and would accomplish what you’re asking for.

Thanks for the response guys…… I’ll Google the vJoy and UCR and see what I can find. In the meantime I would hope that the BMS Team would consider including a universal controller axis curve editing tool in similar lines to the one in DCS World, it would make such a big difference to the users. Thank you.

If you can afford it I’d suggest getting the Thrustmaster 4. It’s basically an X with a palette swap and PS4 badges. However, It has a smaller built in deadzone. 7-8% compared to the X’s 17% so I’ve heard. It’s a much more sensitive stick for sure. I’ve actually had to relearn how to fly, Since I’m so used to manhandling the X to get what I want out of the jet.

IMHO it does not worth, unless you have a PS4 and want to use it there too.
Last time I checked the price was near double than standard X, at that point I’ll add a bit more and get a T.16000M FCS HOTAS that is far superior to X in all respects. -
NO Idea why it’s close to $100 now on Amazon. I picked it up in February for like $50, which at the time was only $10 more than the X.
