Balkans 4.33 Update 3.5
-
Hey guys here is another update for you all. This one incorporates JanHas F-16 models, creates surface ALSF and MALSR lighting where needed and updates some minor stuff.
This update can go right over top of what you already have installed.
Here is the changelog for updates 3.1 to 3.5
- Removed trees from Aviano Airbase around Taxiway A, A1 causing human pilots to blow up - Removed trees from Gio Del Colle RWY 14R causing human pilots to blow up - Removed trees from Casale RWY 15 just past the intersection causing human pilots to blow up - Fixed graphical anomoly by Amendola. Water tile was darker than the rest of the tiles - Removed trees from RWY 26 side of Capodichino AB. Trees were in the approach path - Looked at Pula for reported trees on the flightline and did not see any...Need more info on that - Updated Balance of Power trigger file....save0.tri....removed objective number 393 (Zagreb City). This is because Croatian forces hold it by the time the campaign is finished and the campaign continues if it is in the trigger file if NATO controls it. It still has to be captured by Allied forces though - Updated 05_23 RVR 2 Airport...was showing RWY 05L on both runways...updated the texture to 05R - Created an approach procedure for Gioia del Colle and updated the NavAids and the MAIP charts by Nikos - Updated the kneemaps by "jomla" - Added Kneemaps folder to the Docs folder....user can choose between 3 different kneemaps. - Added Taxiway sign C on Aviano Airbase RWY 23 side - Updated the stations+ils.dat file to match the updated NavAirds an MAIP charts - Changed Balkans.tdf file to say "BMS 4.33 Balkans Theater 3.1" instead of "BMS 4.33 Balkans Theater 3.0" - Re-positioned 08_26, 26_08 and 12_30 airbases to place them more on the airbase tiles - Decreased amount of trees/grass around all airbases....hopefully this will fix the ground crashes issues - Updated Balkans MAIP.pdf by Nikos - Fixed elevation issue at Practica di Mare Airbase - Updated some terrain tile on generic airbases to have a tile that fits it. 32_14 for example - Adjusted some road paths around airbases. Hopefully will keep ground units from moving through the airbase - Updated Balkans.tdf file to say version 3.2 - Removed more trees from 08_26 runways....reported "holes" at Pula and Grobnicko Polje Airports. - Removed trees from MIRIM airports.....reported trees on 08 side of Zemunik Airbase - Updated F-16 3D cockpits for MLUs, Block 40, Block 42, Block 50, Block 52 and Block 52 HAF - Updated F-16 3D cockpit textures for same blocks. The MLU and HAF F-16s now have the neon green with some white backlighting instead of the neon blue. - Fixed some terrain tiling issues around Pula and other areas. Tiles got messed up in 3.2...fixed now - Updated Balkans tdf file to say version 3.2 - 3.4 Updates - Updated the following F-16s to the new JanHas models.....F-16CM-52, F-16 Fuel Tank and Pylons, F-16C-52+ CFT, F-16C-52+ EAF, F-16C-42, KF-16C, F-16AM RNLAF, F-16AM RNoAF, F-16AM BE, F-16AM RDAF, F-16AM RJAF, F-16CM Block 50, and F-16CM Block 40 - Fixed missing text in lcktxtrc.txt - Updated Balkans MAIP - Updated Balkans tdf file to say version 3.4 - 3.5 Updates - Removed hidden trees from Aviano - Created surface ALS and updated the ALS at all photoreal airports where needed. - Moved the VORTAC station of Galatina airbase at the real position. - Deleted the double ALS at the default airport type with RWY 11/29. - Updated the NavAids and their list. - Updated Balkans tdf file to say version 3.5
Here is the link for the update……
Balkans Update 3.5 (465 MB)
Balkans 4.33 Update 3.5 Hi-Resolution Textures (606 MB)**Note: If you choose to use the Hi Resolution Textures, make sure you install update 3.5 first, then install the textures. Balkans Update 3.5 Alternate (394 MB)**Some guys with lower end machines might experience a FPS drop that is not to their liking. If that is the case, here is an alternate Balkans 3.5 update. The only thing that is different between the 3.5 update and the 3.5 alternate update are the updated F-16 models. The alternate update does not have them installed since those are the cause of the FPS.
Please make sure you have the Same ACDATA Files Required UNCHECKED in the config editor while using the 3.5 or 3.5 alternate update.**

Thank’s Cougar!!!

Thanks a lot, Cougar, for this new release!
I’ve just noticed this: when downloading the hi-res textures, I got a 592 Mb (and not 606) zipped file, and when I opened this archive I saw there is an executable titled “HiRes_Balkans_3.4_Textures.exe”, just as its previous version.
Is all that correct? And after, should I point to my actual Balkans BMS folder (“C:\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Data\Add-On Balkans”) to install the new teather and textures, right?
I’m asking it not to point against neither criticize anything, but only to know if I’m doing all well (or wrong, in case) in advance. Thanks for your attention. With my best regards,

Nothing changed with that zip file. So yes they extract to your Falcon BMS Directory. Any update I put out….always point to your Falcon BMS 4.33 U1 root folder unless otherwise specified.

Good news! … thanks for keeping this great theater up to date.:D

Unfortunately, you’ll have to re-update all lod’s for -16’s … there is a bug in all? models , afterburner fire is coming out of nose , instead engine.
Jan has already updated model’s on his page. Something about LOD1 and LOD2 , see in readme
Update log: Subsequent fixes, tweaks and improvements will be listed here. ––––––––– -v1 The original -v2 - I added LOD 1 and 2 models with the BMS style canopy reflection. They can be found in the "BMS_type_canopy" folder. - Fixed the LAU-129 on station 3/7 issue (affects all LOD's) (re-download the new ALW package, because those LAU-129 and F-16 Pylon (3/7) models were tweaked too!) - Added the correct 3023.dds which has the texture for the LOD2/3 main gear well. - I removed switch 54 from the models (affects all LOD's). - I fixed the light model behind the front gear door. - Increased brightness of the tail spot lights (f16bk52.dat file edit) - Did a small tweak in the Parent Data jpg for the F-16CM-52. - I added a small piece related to the AN/ALE-50 Towed Decoy (affects 3021 skin and LOD1, 2 and 3) - Restored a small issue in the fm.dat value that fixes the rpm problem. In short, re-install all models and skins, including the wing model for the pit and add the updated f16bk52.dat. Also install the LV3_F-16_FTPs_v2 models. That package includes now a LAU-129 with Towed Decoy housing. -v3 - I have fixed the afterburner popping in front of the nose issue. The fix is for LOD 1 and 2\. Re-install those two only. -v4 - I have fixed a poly issue with the LOD1's (affects all LOD1 models). - I fixed a panel lines issue on the bottom skin (affects standard blue and HG5 skins). - I added shadow between the intake and body (affects standard blue and HG5 skins). - I fixed a cockpit texture issue (affects the common skin).
Well… cluster*uck
Cheers

Hmm, this is getting a bit problematic for some of us
I enjoy fast updates as I’m an IT guy, but the majority of people in our vsqn are far from computer savvy. That means with each update it are the same guys (usually one or two) that need to update everyones install via teamviewer, and then also our server to keep everyone in sync.
The pace at which the updates are coming lately make that a bit hard -

Oh dear reminds me of my past… while u do it in ur pc record it , put it on utube and cut them off, let em do it by their own.
The time i lost on those i would have made wonders either in my own falcon education or deving things for falcon.sent from my mi5 using Tapatalk

Hey coug,
Much appreciate your efforts.
A hot fix is needed to correct the “nose burn”.
Just like FD, we have guys that cannot install the models alone. Thanks again.

Ok. Let someone double-check me , but it seems that only database model viewer (ogllod and lodedit) is affected by this bug ‘afterburner out of nose’ , in sim 3d world, burners seems fine , coming out of engine I mean. At least for CMblock50/52 .
Well. I can live with that … It is not that I do not enjoy new scenery (eyecandy) that much ,… just how much time do you actually fly from 3rd perspective ??? at least BMS. …
Really I don’t like poking too much into db-editing , I mean I know how to do some stuff, but doing it all over and over again … nogo. It will never be final, everything evolves.
From this standpoint … it’s all good to me.
Cheers Coug. , till next update.

I’m not having any issue either with the AB
-
based on the feedback in the Janhas thread it isn’t really happening in single player but visible when flying MP?

I haven’t checked in SP but, all of us observed in our last MP flight.

Just a quick question before I start installing 3.5 on our sqn computers. Is the Janhas fix v3/v4 now in 3.5 download? Or will there be a 3.6 for that?
-
It seems that doesn’t matter, I’ve redone db with last CM50 and CM52v4 , by myself… and still buggy in Ogllod.
So I’ve scratched sim/acdata /objects with alternative version.Judging by the file dates in Jan’s archives., it is v4 in db… but, as I’ve said, still problematic. (see in JanHas thread, modding section, not much else then mentioned).
Don’t get me wrong here, planes do fly (really ? ) , but how well and what is behind the scene I can’t tell.
Until those are corrected I’ll stick to the old.
Thanks for leaving this option open.Otoh, Cougar should know best what is in db’s. I guess

Cougar, you have everything someone would want in the 3.5 HiRes_Textures…except JanHas weapons…could you add them in the future if you making any updates please…;)
-
Thanks for this great update, plus the Hi-Res Textures! I got a question though; where can I find the kneemaps for the Balkan Theater? There isn’t a “Kneemap” Folder in the “Docs” Folder, according to the change-log!
What I got to do, to enable them ingame? If there aren’t any kneemaps, is there a possiblity to get the Airport Navigation Charts an such? The ones that I found, are all considered to be outdated! Thanks again for your work, and all the good people who made this brilliant theater as shiny as it is! :bowd:
