AUX COMM CNI KNOB QUESTION
-
I know I might be doing something wrong because I used to keep the CNI switch in UFC and all my comms were fine.
Recently I noticed that during AAR I could not hear the tanker when requesting fuel. I tried my wingman and did not hear a thing neither.
It is obvious I am communicating because I see the red letters on the left side of the screen directing me to AAR.
I changed the CNI switch to Back Up and now I hear the tanker and my wingman as well.
This does not affect tower comms. I hear those ok.
Any help in this department will be appreciated.

What does your DED CNI page says?
any radio off there? -
My only thought is that the BU UHF radio was tuned to a valid AI frequency while the UFC UHF wasn’t. The VHF isn’t affected by BUC/UFC in terms of frequency. Possibly more likely it was a change coincidentally correlated to a change in something else mistaken for cause. What exactly where you doing and can you get it to do it again?

What do you mean by DED CNI page? Is that the homepage of the DED?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

yep, the one you see the status of both Com1 and Com2
got the same thought as Frederf -

Hello Frederf thanks for taking the time, basically I start the mission (it can be any mission with an AI wing man or ither AI like tanker, AWACS, etc) and as I give a command to my wing man, I see his response on the upper left side of my monitor but I cannot hear his voice and neither can I hear mine. As soon as I go to my left side panel and turn the CNI button back to BU, I hear the response of the last command. And as soon as I issue a command I can hear that one as well. As soon as I turn the CNI button to BU, The radio goes silence.
This happens consistently in any mission and it affects AWACS, tanker, wing man, I’m not sure about tower yet.
It’s almost as if the CNI button function is reversed however as soon as I switch it to BU the DED screen shows the UHF radio off. I’ll send a picture of the DED as soon as I get back home.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

The ONLY time the DED page is going to show UHF off is if it is indeed not on. If your UHF is properly turned on and the CNI switch is in BU then the DED will show UHF BUP. Suggest you learn how to properly turn on the aircraft systems.

While I appreciate the suggestion, I didn’t turn the aircraft on. I start in the air.

That alone is peculiar as only some training flights, instant action or dogfight module start you already airborne. Unless you are specifically selecting a flight that is already airborne to join in a campaign.

Okay well you need to be consistent on what you are telling people if there is any chance of finding out what is wrong. If the story changes post to post it becomes that much more difficult for someone not seeing it first hand to know what is actually happening.

Sorry to confuse you
Here’s a video I made to illustrate the problem.
Please forgive the aspect ratio since I fly with three wide screen monitors.

Your UFC UHF is tuned to 341 MHz and VHF 126.5 MHz. That V freq is Kunsan but I don’t see any default channel, facility, or anything that corresponds to 341 MHz.
Try to manually tune your UFC UHF radio to a common frequency like 349.00 MHz and try again.

Frederf my riddle is solved!
Thank you very much!
I followed your suggestion and it worked.
Thanks a lot! I love this community and how it comes together to help each other. After doing a little bit of more research I figured out I had to changed the frequency in the weapon delivery planner software and never changed it back.
Thanks again Frederf and every one who pitched in
