Could not create device on adapter. (on 1st boot)
-
Installed BMS 4.35 and 4.35 update 1 (both downloaded yesterday).
On 1st boot, a black square covers 2/3 of the screen
Then an error message pops up
“Could not create device on adapter”Does anyone know what I should do?
Running:
Windows 10 (19042)
Microprose Falcon 4.0 (installed and working, CD not in and CD in)
Core 2 Duo E6600 (6300 @1.86 Mhz)
3GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 7900GS DDR3 -
I’m not sure if your GPU supports DX11. As 4.35 now uses DX11 instead of DX9.
Other than that the error could be because you have no sound device plugged in

Thanks for the reply.
My system is too old, I’m out for now.It is running DirectX 12.
I have a GeForce 7900 connected to my monitor but Device Manager shows ATI Radeon 2400 XT.
And the GeForce doesn’t have Windows 10 drivers.
And i thought I’d hit the jackpot when i found the Microprose at a Salvation Army (after keeping my eyes open for who knows, a decade?)
I’ll have to fall back to Janes f/18 mod on XP until i upgrade my computer. Thanks again.

I’m not quite sure that your GF 7900 is DX12??? That’s card from 2006 … probably DX9 MAX.
Hey!!! , Janes F/A 18 is a GREAT SIM … and it works on Win7 … I’ve even managed to run it on Win10. (but need DX7 emulation via dgVoodoo) , … have link somewhere how to do it , will edit the post when I find it.

Someone asked about this a few weeks ago … I tried enabling WARP via DxCpl … and got about 2fps on a modern 8-core CPU. I suspect one could get maybe 5fps at 720p, turning off/down all possible graphics settings… maybe 10fps with some hacks to get rid of clouds? I didn’t pursue it far.
I think WARP was intended for WPF apps (typically 2D, ordinary GUI apps) to be able to run on Windows Server and remote sessions. And for automated testing purposes (think: teams building 3D rendering engines). Never actual realtime 3D gameplay.
But what do I know … people in the youtube comments seem to indicate it works for some games?
(Still take caution downloading any software from someone named “hack the hackr”, ok?)

Start / Run / DxDiag.exe
and let us know what it says. (Mainly look at the ‘Display’ tab. It will show your GPU and driver info, DirectX level, etc.)

You funny guy
It might actually work , as a software renderer , but his fps will be -5 , lol …

Yea, one of my laptops has embedded GPU (intel HD Graphics 5500) which is not consider a gaming “GPU”. The laptop has Windows 10, so DX12 is there. BMS up to version 4.34 was working fine since it utilized DX9, although very low fps and with minimum graphic options set. The new BMS 4.35 that utilizes DX11 was not starting at all with same error, “cannot create device on adapter”. After extensive investigation and test, reading many nvidia and guru3d topics, I’ve found the above solution proposed on that video. After that BMS 4.35 is starting and gets into UI’s. Performing a flight is impossible, I only have 1 fps there, but since it is a backup laptop when remote I only care to be able to get into the main UI and create some missions, then move them to the main flight systems.

Had the same device error on the latest version of BMS.
The error has something to do with the HolographicShell
So I created a bat file with:@echo off
logman stop HolographicShell -etsSaved it as vr.bat (or your choice)
Ran the bat now all working -
Thanks @Hells that fixed it for me as well, tried to troubleshoot it following most the other proposed solutions (trying to disable other USB devices / sound adapters) etc…
This ended up being the culprit, would never have found it myself. Thanks again!
