How player dead affects campaign
-
I am curious about how the players death, affects the campaign, and if it is just downed and ejected succesfully makes some diference.-
Thanks -
I don’t think the player dying really affects anything. You will lose the aircraft though and that will affect squadron ability to plan missions I believe.

Player death won’t affect the campaign any differently than player ejecting*. Both are lost jets. However, the program has issues accurately tracking losses, and frankly most of the time you won’t even lose the jet from inventory.
There is a difference in your logbook. Consecutive missions are reset on player (or wingman) death. So if the longevity medal is in your sights, this starts the count over again.
*Getting shot down affects your mission rating, which in turn has an effect on the events in the campaign. But I cannot say if death more negatively affects mission rating that an ejection does. If it does it must be small and you likely wouldn’t notice anyway.

I wish something was implemented so that there were real consequences for dying or being captured.

….or anyone in your flight. I don’t think that is supposed to be though and I think its a bug, because you are logged with a “killed by self” death when anyone in your flight gets killed.

I thought the campaign was influenced by whether the player does well or not in his flights…. isn’t “player dead” effectively a “did not do well” scenario?

That’s What I’ve always read. “Bad Player Ratings reduce Friendly Successes”. But I’ve always wonder How much it does and how much time before it takes effect? On an another level, How many Higher ratings does it take to reverse the damage of bad ratings?
And on that note, How does this effect Work and stack in Multiplayer? Could you Potentially Snowball a Campaign into Unwinnable by just having 10 Players purposely fly Poor or Horrible Ratings within the first few hours of the Campaign?
