VG BMS4 Co-op | 24/7 Dedicated Server!
-
I’m happy to announce that the VG BMS Server is getting a hardware upgrade! Next week, we are moving over to a Quad-Core Xeon CPU, 12GB of ECC RAM (6x2GB), a Samsung EVO SSD, and a new dedicated 1Gbps internet connection. We will not be able to keep our old IP Address for the new server, so our current server will remain online for a few weeks or so to help smooth the transition and get the word around that the VG BMS IP Address has changed. We are expecting the new server to be available to the public starting next week if all goes well.
This is a major upgrade for us, we’ve been a bit hobbled as BMS continued to grow over the years and our hardware did not keep up with that pace. Our current server is an aged Intel Core 2 6400 CPU with 4GB RAM and a 30Mbps connection (shared net AFAIK). We’ve had some in-game issues lately with frequent “gear-up crashes” after successful landings and subsequent taxi, and we suffer from an occasional blue flashing “pause” message at times. These problems are rare, but we are unsure if they occur due to the 24/7 nature of our aging server and random bugs, or in-game engine issues we can’t control. Desync between multiplayer flights is luckily not an issue, and many of us fly in rather close formations despite our many thousands of miles of real world separation, with the server being in Kansas USA.
I will post further updates as we get the new server finalized. Once again, the old VG BMS Server will remain online after the new server launches and we’ll try to get the word out to everyone we can.
Here’s hoping our server issues will minimize after this massive upgrade! Thanks to all our regulars for flying with us, and we hope you will help spread the word about our new IP Address!
New IP (not yet active!): 205.161.30.10
Updates coming soon! -
VETERANS-GAMING is proud to announce that our new upgraded server is now live! The VG BMS Multiplayer Campaign will now run on a dedicated server box powered by a Quad-Core Intel Xeon processor, 12GB of ECC (Error Correcting Code) 1333MHz RAM, a Samsung EVO SSD, and an ATI R7-240 with 2GB of DDR3 VRAM, all on a dedicated 1Gbps network.
The server will remain in Kansas, USA and is open to the public! We will be launching this server in the 64-bit version on the default Korean Theater of Operations. All players will need to launch BMS in the 64-bit mode in order to connect to the new VG BMS Server. We will be hosting a public 24/7 Korean War Campaign that will span for several weeks until the DPRK is so overrun by BLUFOR that missions are all extremely far flights or no worthwhile targets remain.
The old VG BMS Server will remain online for the next few weeks while we try to get this notice to everyone.

Not sure what you are doing differently…. At first I though maybe the new server crashed since last night (edit: this IS what happened at that time) so I tried connecting just now… and I got in immediately. Maybe try again now.
I’d be happy to help you troubleshoot your connection, just not sure if this is the best place for it.I’ll be on the server (and on the VG TS3 in the BMS channel(s) at ts3.veterans-gaming.com) if you would like to join me, we can attempt to work through your issue. I’m an experienced troubleshooter after nearly 10 years at this.

Server WAS down at the indicated time. Re-connected at approximately 18:42 (1hr 48mins ago)
-
Flew a Pre-Plan CAS w/ Semler earlier, including ramp start and a belly landing– everything worked as expected and hoped. Silky smooth.
-
Hmm, I made too many mods I cant track and get connect errors…
-
Nice move.
And happy hunting.
-
Just flew a sortie on the server, by myself as there was no one around. It went very well, no noticeable lag or FPS issues. Very smooth indeed.
-
Same here, have done a few sorties, everything running smoothly! DPRK seems to be pretty much defeated, though. Edit: Just saw it’s been reset, probably for U4, day 3 about to start now.
-
Did the server go down? I can’t seem to connect any more?
-
Sorry for the downtime. Hopefully will be restored sometime today. Announced yesterday at veterans-gaming.com but regret not here till now.
-
Server now back up. Last save Day 7 loaded. KTO time now 15:30
-
Can confirm. Smooth as silk even though the connection on my end leaves much to be desired in so much as bandwidth is concerned. That issue however lies with the connection standard in South Africa.
CobaltUK and Tazz: it was great flying with you on 06/12/2017 [callsign Cracker]
-
Server worked fine this time, I flew a rather uneventful (and unsuccessful :D) AI slightly north of the FLOT out of Seosan.
CobaltUK seems to have joined the flight for a second it seems, sorry for not joining TS, it was just a familiarization flight in my newly modded deskpit
Thanks for hosting & all the best,
Uwe

Will look out for you next time
-
And I promise to join teamspeak the next time around
Cheers, Uwe

Another fun mission on your server (“daniel78” joined the 2-ship later on, but I couldn’t reach him on TS nor on IVC, too bad), this time AWACS also worked flawlessly.
We (or my AI wingie and myself) took out Haeju AB, looks like the DPRK managed to repair the runway but not for long
All the best & thanks a ton for hosting!
Uwe
Pushing
Weapons on target
Headed for the bar…
I guess deservedly so

I think you guys must have joined right around the time I was recovering on Osan.
Unfortunately my mission was not very succesful due to the axis on my microstick getting inverted and mixed up… it’s hard to lock anything when left is up and down is right and right is …something random

As of December 10th 2017, the Required Minimum Connection Bandwidth for all clients is now forced to
20481500 [*updated bandwidth March 2018] In addition, the former config entry denying potential P2P connection types has been removed. Both of these changes are due to reports of increased server and client multiplayer stability, and we are hoping to see the same improvements on our server as well. Please report anything unusual while playing in the coming weeks so we can asses the benefits of this change.Thank you!
*EDIT - MARCH 2018: Server is now running 4.33.5 Build 16084 (U5)
