Fighter Sweep

I jumped in to a Fighter Sweep over Kim Jung Un’s domicile. My fine F/A-18 and my element Kicked the absolute Crap out of six Mig-23’s! Finally! This engagement caused me burn through copious quantities of prehistoric tree juice! Had to access an alternate runway at Taegu. Dotted all the I’s and crossed all the T’s to land at said airbase. Refuelled, took to the air again to head for home. Feeling studly! Made my approach to the USS Vinson! Then some retarded ATC decided to put another of Boeing’s finest on the apron of the USS Vinson. No time to maneuver. Crash! Citation put in my file. Crap!

Good job Tom!
One generally accepted method to avoid this is to frag only human flights from your ‘home base’. Let the AI generate missions elsewhere. Or, set the home base squadron(s) to human control and manage the AI missions and times yourself.
Edit:
Also, if you’re interested, search for the F/A-18C NATOPs and reference instructions/guidelines for the landing pattern parameters. Then, with ACMI to record, use TacView and Tyrant’s LSOBot to evaluate your landing ….

Did you actually crash into another jet or just crash into the deck? I seem to recall at least a few instances where I’d be stuck on the launch bar after landing only to have the subsequent planes land right through me.

To be brutally honest, I may have just shorted my last second of my approach to smack into the tail of CVN-70. Will try again.

Lol. I’ve had my fair share of smacking into carriers in my early BMS days. I never did get a dereliction of duty though (assuming that’s what you meant by citation). I did get however get one the other day for crashing into the “air” between some skyscrapers avoiding SAMs. Thankfully I didn’t lose any rank or all that many points. I guess I was too close and it obviously counted as a collision.
Anyway, ACMI is your friend. It helps you learn from your mistakes. Equally important, it helps you make fun of your buds when they make em!
