Mmjoy2 newlife for old FCS tech
-
hello so my saitek x52 is starting to fail and go down quicker that a pair of whore knickers(buttons failing and twist axis jittering)… so im left with no choice but to get a new throttle and stick combo… dont fancy getting saitek again as this last as long as a dwarf in a basketball contest. so a quick search returned results allover the extremes of the pricing spectrum i.e low end or high end…
the low end kit saitek TM etc looks like a bigger ripoff than a wax job on your knackers and the other end good quality but i do enjoy a good single malt that i rather spend that sort of money on.
see the problem is im a tight arse Scotsman and fruggle is my middle name hence thus i started thinking how i would save on the old pennys…
i then remember i had an old saitek gameport X35/X36 at my mothers attic thus i thought im going to spend nothing, and use the x52 usb circuits with x35/36 stick make sence as the plastics and switches in the saitek x35 is of higher quality as is was made before saitek got bought over.
the x35/36 had a better looking military feel to it and is almost model on the F16 (particularly the TQS)which i prefered of the ridiculous abhorrent space aged eyesore that the x52 is.
however whilst i was also on google i learned of MMJOY2 as well as gameport to USB converters…but as i am a tinkerer and MMJOY2 was up my street i jumped on it like a tramp on chips…
MMJoy2 is a self programmed Arduino board that can be programmed with upto 10 axis or 96 buttons so more than enough for my wee project so hence fourth it begins my project and will log progress here if anyone is intrested or can help!! or has experience

Why not a X 45 they are identical to the X36 except for the color and plenty of them on ebay, some bran new, dirt cheap, you will be able to keep on flying. Unless you really want to get into a project like that, but you wont fly anytime soon
Marc…

good idea Bro, as i need some quality stick time as getting back into flightsimming after long break and BMS is the one for me… i actualy forgot about the 45 like you say it will tie me over … i will still continue my stick project as i have got a Teensy 2.0 board for it… the thought have having 96 buttons and 10 axis available is certainly floating my boat…

So u made a game port x35 to a good performing HOTAS for falcon?
Is that what ur saying?
Oh how much did u spend for going from your house to your mother’s attic and back? [emoji38]Στάλθηκε από το MI 5 μου χρησιμοποιώντας Tapatalk

Negative Arty,
what im saying is im going to convert the said stick from gameport to USB using the Teensy 2.0 Arduino clone board.
as my mother is only 50 miles away it just an hours drive each way so not much in terms of cost as im needing to clear my belongings out her attic anyhow.
so far only spent £15 on the board and dont expect a high cost as it has the switches and hats i need but however will install more later as it grows
