BMS 4.33 u1 - slow down in TE - what is the cause?
-
Hi all.
When I do instant action or dogfight mode, I get very good frame rates.
However when doing even a basic TE’s my sim turns into a slide show.Is there some setting that I can change that will stop this from happening?
Is it a graphics setting or detail setting?I’m using an old rig - 3.3 gig ram, Intel Core2 Quad, q8200 2.33 ghz with nvidia geforce 9800 gtx/9800 gtx+ (512 mg ram)
I’m trying to avoid buying a new system just for gaming, so I am hoping to optimize things with just adjusting the settings.
Thanks for any suggestions!

First thing to do is reinstall a fresh Operating System. Win7 !
You state you have “3.3 gig ram” which is an very odd number. pull the cover and have a look. Even remove the sticks and report back with their specs.
I suspect they are “rubbish sticks” and need to be replaced with 4Gig of decent, fast DDR2 ram off ebay or where ever you can find them.
Report back with a Motherboard Model and the specs of the ram you have.
If this is to much trouble, then start saving money for a new rig.
I think it can be made TO FLY bms AT LOW REZ WITH MEDIUM GRAPHICS SETTINGS ( stupid cap locks, or stupid fingers)

Overclock, stop services and apps running in the background, reduce gfx settings.
I believe u can find all in the Hot List.
There is a performance section.Στάλθηκε από το MI 5 μου χρησιμοποιώντας Tapatalk

Your motherboard must be 775 socket. U can have a Xeon moded CPU for few bucks.
For sure if u want better gfx u must get a better VGA, your 9800 is very old and with low memory.
Also having 8gb of ram on your system might be a good thing.Στάλθηκε από το MI 5 μου χρησιμοποιώντας Tapatalk

Hi guys. Thanks for the reply.
Can you direct me to the Hot List (and performance section)?
You guys will laugh, but this gaming rig I have is running newly installed Windows XP - there is pretty much nothing on it except Falcon 4, my HOTAS and TrackIR software.
It does run fine with dogfight and instant action.I am pretty sure the ram is 4 gig, but in the system specs it comes up as 3.3 (not sure why).
I basically want to make sure that I am going to have enough time again to dedicate to flight sims before putting more money into a new gaming system. For now I am ok with lowering graphics settings if they will give me better frame rates in TE and Campaign, as long as they don’t take away too much from situational awareness - this is what I am looking to optimize.
Thanks!

Guessing the 3.3 gig is from XP Being 32bit also. Not really good.
Cheers and happy new year!

3.3 is x86 limit AFAIK
you are running antique ware hombre, you should upgrade the OS at least and make sure you aren’t running antique memsticks.

LOL.
Yes, I understand.
When I see I have enough time to devote, I will upgrade.Any idea why it runs smoothly on dogfight and instant action, but is a slide show on even a basic TE?
I thought they were all loaded up in the same virtual world. Thanks!

So I found this interesting.
I turned down the trees and the grass and now the TE’s are totally smooth - however the Campaign is still a slide show - yes I know it is a much more sophisticated beast, but it suggests to me that there is hope.
