Size of the hit box
-
Hi Nuno,
all fine? Thanks for reply!
Ok, the first is one method. I think I can figure it out, how to calculate the values…
To the second, yes, e.g. for runway, taxiway, etc., I have the 3DS files. But how do I get that values from that 3DS file?
I’m using here Sketchup…EDIT-------------------------
With LOD Editor works! Great joy!
Because, if the hitbox is too small, the model disappears from some sight of view. But now all’s fine.Thank you, sir!
WIP:
Start / land is already practicable.
Best regards

U must use 3dsmax for radius and hitbox calculations.

If u feel so, feel free to feel, what ever you want, but I decide, if I want to…, there is no must, sir.

Hi Earlybite,
I would suggest NOT changing the Hitbox dimensions for the viewing problem, but rather change the Hitbox Radius (if that’s not what you already did). The Hitbox dimensions should roughly match the volume of the item being rendered.
Also not to discourage you, but rather to inform:

No problem, but I haven’t it (such a beauty) in my vanilla installation. In my vanilla installation Osan looks terrible. The tiles are made from RL and some objects are thrown over them. That is, of course, my opinion. But to me vanilla Osan in the sim is a sh**e.
I do not begin such projects, when my satisfaction misses more than 10%…
Hitbox:
I do not know. What I recognized was, that in the Editor and also in 3D (while flying) my model suddenly hides while looking around. In the Editor I couldn’t zoom to much, because the model became unvisible. And setting the hitbox values made it…
And where is the hitbox radius?Best regards

The hitbox radius is over X, Y, Z - max, min…

Size…?
Pumpyhead usually insists that “size doesn’t matter”.
As for a hitbox, his thinking may be different.

Need to find my motivation and falcon working mood back…
That looks very prof, sir! I doubt if I’m able to get something like that with Sketchup…
But, I’m getting not “warm” with 3DS Max!E.g.:
I’m having 3440*1440 and that is with this resolution a bad thing reading any text in that program.
I would have to change res and dpi (I use under Windows 125% dpi) every time I work with that program.I wasn’t able to get v2014. It starts now with 2015…
And 2015 made such problems on my system. Here a warning, there a message, and some more.To me, it is absolutly overloaded. It needs a long time to filter, what is needed and what not.
I cannot convert any longer to 3DS files!
Sketchup is, for me, the easiest way to make a model which I can at once put into the sim via LOD Editor.
And, yes, maybe is Sketchup, not that modelling program (comparing to 3DS MAx), but for some semi-prof models…, yes, to me, its fine. But, yes, everytime I see such prof 3DS Max works, yes, I’m a little envious…
But<again>, it looks like you are using PS also, isn’t it?
I do not have PS, I’m working with Paint.net…, and that is IMHO the “same thing” like 3DS Max comparing to Sketchup.Best regards

If you already have a propper size, yes, than “size doesn’t matter”…

But how do you get that value? My understanding is that the Hitbox Radius describes the spherical volume where the code begins to see if something will hit the volume of the Hitbox. Ideally, the radius should envelope the entire model in its bubble. Sometimes increasing the Hitbox Radius fixes the object “disappearing.”

The “issue” is, that I didn’t had changed that radius…
Even not now, the radius is same as for the runway it stood (I took that CT 1902 Osan / RW 265).
And the model isn’t disappearing anymore. But good to know, that there is still a radius to serve.
And I understand the same way for that radius.
But I’ve no idea how to get that value, from what values…For this “little things” it would be nice, if the LOD Editor can handle that, isn’t it?

Radius:
I just had a look on several CT’s and it seems that the radius is a little bigger than the highest value of the hit box, equal if X or Y…

Hi Earlybite,
as you can see, some has been done on Osan already, maybe pick a different AB (or heli base) in Korea?
