Night too Bright
-
Hi, is there any way to turn down the brightness/gamma at night? I can see perfectly without NVGs like it’s daytime. I looked around but couldn’t find any option like this in the in game settings or the config menu on the launcher.
Any help would be appreciated.

I put night bright in the search box and came back with this

Simple, eh?

thanks

Yep, depending on screen settings it might be a little too bright or too dark. Have you paid attention if it was full moon was up or not (moon is always full)?

I set g_fAmbientmin to 0.05 and it’s good now

Perfect.

Be careful with this, I too changed it from the default and during an early morning mission, while it was still dark for me, the sun was up and it was day time for the rest of the aircraft in my flight. Maybe I was a bit too aggressive with the settings, I don’t know, I just changed it back. On a clear night with a full moon you can see very well.

This has nothing to do with night brightness, but with local date setting. There’s a command in Falcon BMS.cfg (which you’ll find in BMS/User/config) that sets sunrise/-set according to the real life date.
EDIT: This command is what I was talking about. Change it to 0 to disable, 1 to enable.
set g_bLocalEnvironmentalDate 0 // Makes the TimeManager use the local system date for environmental lighting calculations
E.g. default BMS has sunrise at 0600 local in-game time (not sure what the exact time is though), so anyone who hasn’t changed the setting will be flying in bright daylight from 0700 onwards.
Those who have changed the setting and are flying a mission today, Jan. 14th 2018, will have sunrise only at 0830 (again, random time), because it’s winter in the northern hemisphere and sun rises later then… As such, at 0700, they’ll still be in pitch black night. -
Be careful, this is not “host enforced” for MP.
