IFF fault at ramp start
-
I think I have the ramp start down, but for some reason no matter what I do, I keep getting an IFF error. It can’t be cleared- as far as I can tell. Its my understanding that IFF is not implemented in BMS, why the fault?
-
How are you attempting to clear it?
Air source to “NORM”?
-
Should be able to clear it on the MFD test page. I don’t think it means anything.
-
yes , learned the air source lesson, you will have a lot of electronic faults if you don’t switch the air source. No I haven’t used the MFD, just just the electrical. I will try the MFD.
-
After successfully starting the jet. Go to the test page and you will find several faults, this is normal.
Press the clear button and wait a few seconds to be sure none reappear.
Then you’re good to go. -

As above, you dont have the ramp start down. Test page, CLR the MFL. As per the checklist.

Hehe, welcome.

Yes, I cleared all faults in test page. I was curious why the fault occurred, so I watched the fault panel after each avionics Power switch is turned on , as soon as you throw the mmc switch the IFF fault occurs. speaking of the air source, knob seems to be hidden in the virtual view, clearly visible in the 2D view. 2D seems the way to go on startup.
-
Given that IFF is not implemented (sigh too bad it comes in handy sorting who’s who in the zoo), I would ignore the warning.

If you have TrackIR you can lean forward and look behind the arm rest to see the knob.
If you don’t have TIR, hold the mouse scroll button (if your mouse has that) and move the mouse, that way you move the pilots body and you can also lean forward to see behind the arm rest. -

given the limitations of the F-16 AIFF systems, its about as useful as the block 50 RWR slave radar mode, but you dont see everyone complaining that that is missing.
both features allow you to mess up correlating a return to its correct origin, causing you to mis-ID a group.

I was trying to restart the IFF debate…,

RF Switch set to Quiet or Silent?
