Hmm, Im at work, can anyone verify this?
-
like any steerpoints yes
HSD SOI, cursor on it tms up doneµownship Markpoints are steerpoints 26-30 no? so they are basically nothing more than steerpoints
Received markpoints are store somewhere in the seventies ranges 71-75 or moreso you don’t even have to use the HSD trick, just select stpt 26 in DED for 1st markpoint ….
the dash one should tell more about it
-
the question was about figuring out which one is which, RD.
So if you already know which one is which, then sure, 4-STPT and punch it in. If you dont know which number it is, you can select it simply and easily from the HSD.
Your other option can still work, using the tadpole (GCSC) to figure out relative bearing to the markpoint, but the HSD is probably easier for most.

No way, I tried HSD SOI, cursor over markpoint, TMS up and nothing happens, no HSD or DED response.- Tried instead the same with any steerpoint and makes it active.-
-
TMS up does not allow one to select a MP on the HSD. It only shows the “active” MP as an x. As mentioned before, you’ll need to use the rocker on the ICP to move between active MPs

Okay, so who is right? Red Dog or Quasi_Stellar???
-
quasi

No way to delete mark points AFAIK. Once you get to the end, it cycles back to the first one and overwrites that.
Enter North and East it the LAT/LNG fields on the STP page

A video I shot ages ago but never did upload to demonstrate this process -

IIRC you cant select markpoints on HSD in 4.33.
They are still selectable with ICP-> 4 -> type 26 to 30. Or just press 0 after making it in the markpoint window to switch to it directly.

Seems Im in error then. You cannot do so in BMS, and a quick perusal of some documents leads me to believe you should not be able to do so.
My bad

might be better to use the DEST page.

Using STPT page gives you a visual confirmation you have selected the markpoint you want to clear, so IMHO at least, is the better page to use. However, if you’re flying on Steerpoint AP it could result in some funky results…

In RL you can. Markpoints and ownship markpoints, are selected via the HSBD, the same way threat steepoints are. In addition the active marpoint, ownship markpoint and threat steerpoint are displayed in reverse video.

Hi Malc,
I did not read that he wanted to over right an existing STP - I found it best to leave your flight STPs as fragged so they are the same as the rest of your flight - in case of rejoin and for general SA - and add STPs in some of the vacant slots.

No, neither did I mate - the thread started as one thing and evolved into another. My video to Leech’s explanation was how to clear existing markpoints. Thread derailment is a pain in the butt sometimes…

Yes they are selectable that way, but there is no way to identify any of them at the HSD, the only way I found is to select the markpoint and make the autopilot in steerpoint mode point to it.-
Didnt understand the second part of your reply, about pressing 0 after making the markpoint -

Didnt understand the second part of your reply, about pressing 0 after making the markpointJust make a markpoint and press 0. It will become current steerpoint.

okay. Tape doc I have reckons its only preplanned steerpoints you can select like that. fairly clear about it. different tape perhaps…
