Rampstart in the dark ?

Slightly OT, but how long can the F-16 run on BATT? Obviously you’d flick it to MAIN once the engines up and running to provide power. Does BMS simulate the onboard battery dying?
-
On the RL USAF F-16
Depending on the pilot, most bring a flashlight. Some just use finger light (small LED attached with Velcro…well to their finger) I do not think NVG are tied to the engine power. There is setup for JHMCS, but I do not think it uses aircraft power ether.good to know mate
was just thinking if they used spot/util light it would take away juice from aircraft battery which isn’t good?…
-
Well the checklist documentation included with the game says not to run the BATT for more than 5 minutes…

I don’t think the utility light works with battery. Never seen it I should say.

Manual says that it is powered from the Battery bus bar 1.

Manual says that it is powered from the Battery bus bar 1.
Which manual? 24, the 33. For what block.
Found it, yep it is power by Battery bus. Never seen a pilot use it tho. Normally they just bring a flashlight
-
seems Flood lights are tied to main gen, primary console/instrument lights are tied to EPU, and aircraft battery supplies the spotlights. (which makes sense)
Correct
so according to manual:
flood lights can only be on when engine’s running;
Correct as is the case in BMS
spotlights are not implemented (?)
No
kept engine off, turned on EPU, flood lights start to work… but not primary lights;
when engine’s on obviously both works
so i’m confused too
Noticed that 10th Dec 2009
Its on one guys very large “todo list”

pssst… Don’t tell them either…. One lest thing they can break
-
edit cleared
planehazz: ran the battery with FLCS relays closed for some 30min here, nothing happened lol…… altho i guess it’s a good habit not to leave it running too long, never knew what bms will do in the future

phew thought i mixed up some stuff there… thnx!

This would be done in 2 or 3 minutes, once engine is spooling battery is charging!
Electrics fully functional!
Like I said check link!
For further reading!
Your not running plane on battery!
Its just to get started!
I have seen this in youtube!
check this one:
OVERLOAD!
Its all done by memorisation!
Blind Faith!
Like when you go to toilet at night! LoL
hehehehehe!

jeez people, jsut use you flashlight on your screen damn it! !
-
LoL!

Yeah, but then they drop the flash light or LED light, and I’m still spending 1/2 and hour upside down looking for the thing under the seat.
-
Stop it! your cracking me up!

You know now someone will ask you;“How do you turn that on?” And then they will say;" That does not look like my Mag light, it’s wrong!"

Thank´s for bringing some light  on this question !!
-
What’s the keystroke to turn on my flashlight?
-
Guys:
IRL the pilot is surronded by ground crew before engine start.
That means that no matter where the aircraft is parked, there will be some ambient light from a light poll or the dome shelter lights, for the ground crew to perform their PF checks.
Pilots do not start their engines in complete darkness. SAFETY FIRST !!!
Pilot do not start their EPU just for lights… especially not on the ground !!!
I will be upgrading the electrical system sometimes in the future, to be as close to real as possible without getting too technical. Now it is pending Boxer’s approval.
The aircraft battery can last 50 minutes in BATT during flight, according to -1 emergency procedures section regarding all generators offline.
The spot light is used during an emergency or during a night flight to read mission docs.
It is N/I in BMS AFAIK.
Any more electrical system questions ? -
