WARNING - CREATING NEW WEAPONS

Modder Friends.
If you plan to change the LOD of the weapons, be extremly careful that your LOD center and attached point is exactly the same than the one in the BMS stock version.
If you dont respect the origninal distances you will pork the AFM.
admin: please make that sticky

And what to do if the the weapons location and size if wrong? Never to be fixed? For example: the JSOW is much to small (my model is 140% of the standard model). There are some pretty fubar’d models out there…

size does not matter, position of LOD center and position on the pylon matters
…then proper coordination with “me” would be needed
in THEORY : if you match 100% the real position and size you are fine the best is to find the real documentation that indicates the GC of each waypoint and pylons vs GC so when creating the model, the LOD center must correspond with the GC of the weapon and the attached point put at the correct place like the real.
my message is just to warn people that if they dont match 100% the real GC and posit…it will go wrong. so this is not only about 3DS work here now

Thanks for info MAV! Is it same with objects? (bridges, buildings etc.)

??? this is only AFM related !

If someone could take the time and explain how to make / verify these adjustments which make lod compatible with bms, both for weapon and aircraft models, it would be greatly appreciated. I’ve been modding for a some time yet I’m not very familiar with actually editing the 3d models in LE.

Just curious. If I’d like to model the MW-1 for the Tornado - is that possible? The weapon is firing bomblets sidewards.
-
Wasn’t that thing banned like over 20 years ago? Without doubt the worst weapon ever to be fitted to the Tornado.
Did the Germans ever use it in anger?
-
Speaking of the MW1 Can anybody give me a step by step tutorial on how to implement the JP233 in the game.
I can se in the TACREF that its in the game but you can’t mount it on the Tornado…And that a shameBOCOWA

Probably because it’s not functionnal as it should. There are lots of unfinished stuff in DB, but they are not available because they are not, well, finished.

Thx for the quick reply

I’ll second Echo’s request for an explaination on the required adjustments.
How can one verify that he’s spot on using LE only? -

Actually it wasn’t banned ever. It is/was phased out during the last years, along with the IDS-Version of the Tornado.
The not-instantly exploding ammunition (the MIFF and MUSPA Mines) has timers that assure self-destruction (iirc) within 48hrs. In contrast to the JP233 the MW-1 can be loaded with a non-mine configuration that afaik prevented it from being banned.
The only reasonable usage would have been if the cold war would have gone hot, so of course we never used it.
Actually it wasn’t even used for training purposes (too expensive), the MW-1 firing in the vid is shot during weapon trial and development. For training purposes the Tornado was fitted with the two 2250l EFT on the outer underfuselage attach points. While the weight came pretty close the MW-1, aerodynamically it was a completely different game, since the EFT are pretty streamlined, while the MW-1 was more or less like a fridge hanging under the aircraft.Still - would it be possible to create such a weapon in F4? AFAIK it was an issue with the ammunition being ejected sidewards…
-
Yes. I was able to do for FF with help.
If DB has the necessary 3D models…
-
-
Yes. What did you see on the video…?
-
Looks like i is a nother F******-MUSIK-CLIP, i cant see it germany !!! HaHaHaHa
-
Yes. What did you see on the video…?
Yes, but pls read my post again. There is a subtle difference between the JP233 and the MW-1. The JP233 releases the bomblets downwards. The MW-1 ejects the sub-munition SIDEWARDS.
Maybe someone from BMS could comment on that issue?@Mapi… Don’t we just love the GEMA? Use Proxtube, or watch it via hidemyass.com

No, sideway release is not possible. JP-233 model uses small dumb bombs, the rack 3D model just cover the bomblet GFX. The big 3D model is a rack as a LAU or MER rack, just it has another 3D model. Function is the same.
