A weird hotas issue
-
My key strokes do not have modifiers such as shift or ctrl. I am using the BMS HD key map. The down slew is F9, F8 is up and F10 F11 are left and right. I never had this issue before. Btw, if you use mini-stick axis, how do you set it up in game?

Yeah … exact same as mine. Same keys and then one day, for no apparent reason, one direction just didn’t work anymore. Drove me nuts trying to find a solution.
Set up in the Advanced menu under the Avionics tab, iirc. Basically you have two new axes to set … mini-x and mini-y (something like that). One of them (y-axis, iirc) needs the Reverse Axis box checked. Set a Large Deadzone for both x and y. To gain the mini-stick axis, you loose the Twist Rudder axis.
Not sure if already know … before set up in-game, you have to hack the registry to replace the rudder axis with the ministick axis. See here: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?25766-Configuring-Saitek-X52-pro-mini-stick-(mouse)-for-radar-cursor
Read down a bit and there are links/posts on how to make the registry changes.

Hacking the registry to turn the ministick into DX axes is definitely the most reliable solution, but it costs you the use of one of your other axes (usually the twist).
You bind it the same way you bind any other non-primary axis, in the BMS settings/advanced page. The Avionics tab has drop downs for cursor slew axis binds.

I don’t use twist rudder on the stick, but I use regular rudders that currently sit on my floor. Just wonder if I hack registry, would I lose the use of that regular rudders?

Nope, not a problem.
Those are two different devices. Windows will only recognize 8 axes per device. On the HOTAS, with the twist rudder, it’s at its maximum. What the registry change does is moves the twist rudder to ‘axis #9’ (so Widows ignores it) and makes the mini-stick ‘axis #8’ on this one device.

Thanks for all the replies and helps. So the sudden issue with mini-stick gotta be a game issue right? I mean it works fine outside the game. I am deeply suspicious of the BMS update that I did recently. No one ever took a look at it?

BMS update has no bad intentions in this case, you do not have to worry about brady.

No no. You misunderstood me. I know sometimes when you put in something new you would inadvertently make something else worse. I remember there was a discussion about people have issues do pickle button holddown after 4.33, the issue that had never happened in previous versions, when doing train bombing. I remember someone said it was due to something not recognizing button delays in 4.33.

Good morning in the morning:)
In this case, I am one of those who did not get this heheheeeeee. -
Look at Snelle’s profile (https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?24506-X55-keyfile-Full-DX-Programmed). He has a registry hack that adds the ministick as two bindable axes without deleting any other axes. Even better, it works in other flight sims, too.

You have to be careful using pre-made scripts. If I’m not mistaken the registry PID (device ID) is different for different HOTAS’s. That is the PID in the registry for an X52, X52-Pro, X55, X56 may all be different.

A fact, and here Maestro is not mistaken.

I used agave and bluewolf’s tips. It works perfectly. I don’t even have to set up deadzones. thumbs up.
