Balkans campaign problem
-
Hello,
I have the Balkans theater download from this forum and it runs but when I start a campaign there are only a few red ground units (all anti-air) and it always starts with a strike against the 30th towed AAA battalion but there is no such unit. The target area is just empty countryside a few miles behind a different anti-air unit using SAM launchers.
Does anyone else have this problem? Any possible fixes?

Did you check the OOB (Order Of Battle) for the enemy forces? By far not all enemy forces are displayed on the map.

Fog of war… search and destroy, my friend

It seemed like there was something wrong because the Korean campaign shows all enemy ground units or at least a lot more. I’ll look at it again and post a screenshot to see what you guys think.
I appreciate the help!

I promise you…there are a ton of ground units in the campaigns. Give it some time and let flights/JSTARS/AWACS/RECON Flights fly over that area…the ground units will appear eventually. Also some ground units may be inactive and may not reinforce until after a certain period of time.

Okay, I’ve played a couple of missions and more units seem to be popping up. I would still like some advice on finding small AAA batteries that don’t show up on the mission planner. My target on day one was the Yugoslavian 178th towed AAA battery using S-60s and it did not show up on the map. I looked and looked with my targeting pod and FCR but couldn’t find the target among all the other ground contacts, any advice?
Also, does anyone have any experience with the Battle for Balkans campaign? How is it different from the download on from this forum?
This question is a little off topic but I have watched some videos of people playing BMS on YouTube and they all have much better ACMI video tape with clean blue and read icons representing different units whereas mine shows grainy video of the actual plane. How do you get the better version?
Sorry if these feel like noob questions. I’ve actually played BMS for awhile now and have pretty much mastered all of the systems of the jet. At this point I’m trying to get into the campaign but am finding it a little frustrating trying to install all of the add-ons. I see YouTube videos where people have dynamic weather, better textures, better mission planning tools etc… but trying to track down all of them and installing them is making my head explode.

1. AAA battalion moved, or AAA battalion was destroyed by another flight or AAA battalion was destroyed by ground BLUFOR.
2. Battle for Balkans is designed for PvP.
3. The much better ACMI video tape if a free software named Tacview.

4. Dynamic weather is understood easier and applied thanks to Ahmed’s tool.

5. Better textures, and in general better graphics mod, are to be taken with caution. They can drop FPS and cause issues. The only one I use that is easy to setup is Nuno Santos’ Clouds - they are default in my “Lorik’s” theaters mods.

6. Better mission planning tools are mostly actual BMS team tools, official tools, Falcon 4 BMS suite tools: Weapons Delivery Planner, Mission Commander, Weather Commander. They’re not the easier thing to use if you’re not used yourself to it.

7. The only mission planning tool I use outside from BMS tools is Virtual Mission Tool by Tyrant

Again, also check the OOB, The Order of Battle is a list of all assets from all the teams in the Tactical Engagement. The assets are listed by teams (flags) and Air, Sea, Land and Installations.
To browse through assets expand the list with the + sign and collapse the list with the – sign.If you right click on an asset the usual submenu will be displayed allowing further options, mainly for TE designing. The INFO button on the bottom of the OOB will display further information about the selected asset and the FIND button will jump directly to the selected asset on the UI map. When not displayed on the map you will know the general area. Be aware, like Lorik said, targets can still move and be destroyed during mission planning or ingress. After destruction assets will not show in the OOB anymore. -
Thanks guys!
