Hi, Im an old Falcon 4 flyer and new to the BMS. After install and all the updates. When I launch the Sim and choose the highest resolution it doesnt change and defaults to a low res mode. I have an Nvidia GTX 1060. Windows 10. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

Try this: right-click on “Falcon BMS.exe”, go to Properties and mark “Disable Full-screen Optimizations”.
-
The ui is always at 1024x768 the 3d (in pit) must be at the resolution u set.

I’m in a similar situation.
i5, GTX960, Windows 10 @1600x1200, Falcon BMS 4.33.5
After having set the game to use 1600x1200@60hz, the in game (not game UI) res is always 1024x768
Things I have tried so far:
unticking ‘Borders’ in ‘cockpit display extraction’ -> ‘main’
selecting ‘disable full-screen optimisations’ in ‘properties’-> ‘compatibility’ for the the shortcut, the executable ‘Falcon BMS.exe’ and the launcher
deleting ‘dx9display.dsp’ from ‘User/Config’Interestingly, this is also the case for 4.33.1 but crucially, not 4.33.0 - there has been a regression between 4.33.0 and 4.33.1, carried forward into 4.33.5
The workaround (for me) is to run 4.33.0 or replace the 4.33.5 exe with the 4.33.0 exe

Try running BMS in “windowed” mode:
Furthermore, I would suggest not to replace any current executables with those of the previous versions.

@johku - thanks for that, I can now read the MFD’s
I searched around the forum but couldn’'t find anything about up-scaling the UI so I don’t have to look at my messy deaktop behind the window - It’s mildly annoying. Any tips making Windows display that full screen?

Use the windows 10 build in zoom functionality.?

Got it! Thanks

Well, I can get window mode, but I cant move it, and its not centered. Not working correctly. Guess I am just stuck with full screen mode.

Follow the link johku provided, it says how to center the ui.
Set the value to 1.@johku:Try running BMS in “windowed” mode:

If borderless, you can’t move the 2D UI window yourself. It just happens to be like this by design. Only the BMS coders may change this.
Practically, the 2D UI has to be located either on the top left corner of your screen or in the middle of the screen. These are explained in the post I linked to you:
-
You can move your UI window where you like.
You can not move the window if you set it on borderless. But still I’m sure you can move it with the known windows shortcut and cursor arrows.
Best is to set it on center and then play with windows desktop zoom functionality. -
I can move the 2d / UI window fine when running BMS on WINE / Linux by holding down the Alt-key, clicking into the BMS window and dragging it (xfce4 desktop environment, Linux Mint 19). I was quite suprised to find that even the UI elements on the top still work even if the window is not located at (0, 0).
Maybe the Alt-Key has a similar effect in windows? I’m away from my gaming rig ATM so sadly I cannot test this myself.
All the best, Uwe

I had the same issue with the black bars on the left and right of the screen. I fixed it following your post

selecting ‘disable full-screen optimisations’ in ‘properties’-> ‘compatibility’ for the the shortcut, the executable ‘Falcon BMS.exe’ and the launcher
