Cougar Close Air Brake Button Stopped Working
-
Any fix available for the Cougar Air Brake Button? Forward position moves but no longer closes the air brake. Back position still opens the air brake. Cougar CCP also does not register it moving. Worked fine the day before.

Mine did the same thing, last week!
I pulled mine apart and played with it with a multimeter. Often I find buttons not working is the result of a wire having come loose from its solder, but this time mine turned out to be a broken switch.
At some point I plan on ordering a replacement. For your case, if the CCP doesn’t show it working, I’d unplug it, disassemble it, and test the switch contacts with a multimeter. If the switch works test the wire, and if the switch and the wire works, it’s either an intermittently faulty switch, or a weird fault in the PCB.

The forward motion of that button always seemed a bit of a bad design(stiff and tight). Does thrusmaster sell the replacement part or do we have to send the whole unit out for service? Any tutorials videos available for opening up the throttle? I’d hate to even attempt opening this thing and risk some spring popping out of place and not know where to put it.

Reflash the cougar first before taking it apart.
Wipe the firmware, reload then test in Thrustmaster CCP -
the plastic casing might be broken, if that’s the case no reflash will solve this

Ok will try reflashing first.

Contacted thrustmaster and they said they no longer have the speedbrake inner parts available. Just the gray button is available.
Ok, I disconnected the throttle, flashed my cougar calibrated and now both the speedbrake(forward) button and my microstick are not functional. The microstick is responsive during the calibration, but after, inputs are not being detected(with the exception of the cursor
push button). Repeated it a couple of times and sometims get the error: THe maximum position is less than the defined center position for the Microstick X axis. Please recalibrate the device. Repeated this routine again. I don’t get the error but after the calibration no movement in the CCP. Running version 3.01 of the CCP and Firmware 3.0.0.6 8th Nov, 2004. -

Based on what I see here, and the fact that the microstick was working before the flash, I think it’s a software issue.
