Su flight model please
-
True,
but OTOH it would be great to have a decent Su-27 model.
And at least a substitute of avionics (AI wise at least, like not using radar in dogfight, trying cobra manoeuvre as ace in extreme situations etc).Too bad that Red AI is not using the potential of their AC (like Mig-25’s speed for ex.)

I agree, Red FM’s need to be done better. It’s a shame all these years have passed and not a single one has been brought up to at least a reasonable level.
Of course it will be sighted that there is not enough information available and to some degree I agree. But I don’t think that’s not a totally valid reason to not make them better. There’s enough open source documentation out there to at least do that.

He is not gonna pork nothing, he wanted the su to fly like the f15. That’s the easiest way to do that, these two ac are close enough in size and both have two engines, what would be “faulty”? The gear contact points due to they are not exactly equal in size, so the su may sink a bit or float on the runway, it may “hit” it’s tail in take off and landing visually due to the reason. The chaff/flare dispensers would most likely be in the wrong place, and the engine smoke might not be centered at the engine. The gun in wrong place.
But when in air and in cockpit it would be no diff from flying the F15.
Weight and fuel and engines, CL cd and refarea is the same as F15. Kind of an fsx solution. And for fixing the su, yes you can do estimations, but to calculate CL on a fighter wing? I’d say you would need wind tunnel test data to be accurate enough. Is estimations good enough for this crowd?
Engine data and fuel consumption ok, and the rest good enough;)
Who want that job? Defending that FM?Cheers

What an argument you make.
What do you think the RED FM’s are now?? Estimations and with further investigation they could be made better, there’s no doubt.
But you don’t seem to think that would work and even if it did you’d rather not have that but your OK with:
- Gear sinking or floating
- Tail strikes
- Chaff/Flare displaced
- Engine smoke displaced
- Engine displaced
(those few things would NOT be the only things broke)
If that isn’t porked and broke then I don’t know what is. At least if some experienced FM Guru re-did the FM none of those PORKED things would be present.
Seriously your post is not logical.;)
“He is not gonna pork nothing”:uham:

I didnt say I was ok with anything, the question was if he could fly like a F15, I wouldn’t call it porked, just side effects;)
I didn’t say it is the solution for the FM you know.My point wasn’t that it shouldnt be looked over, I’ll try to give an example: let’s say one find the propulsion data for the aircraft and compare it to the dat and see that it’s only half compared to RL, now, if one put in the new data in the dat, what would the drag think about that? The current drag was for the old data, so now one have to compensate.
So the tweakfest begins, and one will probably end up in a flyable aircraft, but will this estimation be better than the first?Btw, porked is what I did the other way when I was the master of the texture tool, I made on small thing on a control tower texture, I ended up on the taxiway with my HUD only, I could see my engine heat though, the cure was a reinstall and I banned myself from that tool;)

Sure, it’s a process, change one thing and have to look at other things. I agree, and I don’t think it takes a scientist to do it either.
My post’s were directed to the simple fact you can’t just replace the FM and expect it to work correctly or even near correctly. The F15 and the SU27 although similar, 2 engines, etc, etc, are two totally different aircraft and do not fly at all the same. Same goes with the F18 vs SU27. I’d rather caution a person to the effects of creating a frankenstien FM then just saying “Yeah go ahead and do a straight across switch and see what you get”.
Sure, I too have porked a few things in my endeavours.:D But I try to keep that to a minimum.

I agree fully, I was a bit fast there.

It’s all good, now start writing some Aero data!!!

OK then …starting the FM.dat study thing.
Wish me luck…
PS: I dont expect any help as hand holding takes as much time as doing it yourself…
…but if …

Imho, the point is not the ‘gamish’ approach to be able to fight some-sort-of-equal-power forco-on-force type of sim.
I’d say that if you’d fly, let’s say the SU-30, this AC would need to have a FM that goes with this plane (and other plane specific items)
If it’s not in the sim (and it isn’t atm) then the question is who (perhaps you take a start?) is able and willing to invest it’s time to develop (a detailed design/proposal for this) AC…
… just my 2 cents though,

Yep have been compairing su27, 33,35,37, F14,F15 ect as a basic study. AFM is not in my ballpark.
Doing some basic edits for educational purpose. ect

Good to see m8, You saw what I was trying to tell you all is possible with the right information hey… keep in contact m8

A interesting dialog on the SU-30mki by Colonel Terrence Fornof. He gives a lecture on Red Flag 08

@ Shad… I totally agree with having an AFM for the red side. The SU30 would be a perfect canditate and I’m sure there are many who would enjoy flying for the North. What is needed to get started?

Just a note. Performance curves of '21 and '23s mostly unclassified any they are the most common OPFOR jets, especially for Korean theater.
-
Dont want to fly 21 or 23s,
Did fly a 23 , killed two F-5s a F-4 & then ran home, it was fun but it woujd be cool to have a general purpose Mig/SU to mix it up.

Does any one nave a comment on getting ECM programs to work in standard flight model airframes ???
Thanks ……Shad

add:
hasEWS 1
to additional data
cheers

Ha max that was the first thing I tried.
Just checked my spelling/format,Im such a dumb ase, I edited the Su-30mkk-copy.dat
Thanks……Shad
