Adjusting aircraft loadout capability (ex. F-15E)
-
Some of the available loads have always been a small peeve of mine…specifically the -15E model. Willing to take a shot to try and make a lot more realistic than it is now. I have access to probably way more info than anyone else does, so I might as well give it a shot.
Just a few examples.
- Too many GBU-54s allowed on CFTs
- No WCMDs are capable of being loaded
- Too many GBU-10/24s allowed on CFTs
- GBU-27s are not capable of being loaded
Just out of curiosity, are there any tutorials out there for using the editor to make adjustments? I messed with it a while back but it was years ago, I’ve forgotten most of what I knew, and I’m sure there have been changes in the last 10 years since I messed with it. I’d like to adjust quantity and the rack priority so they load ‘somewhat’ properly in relation to how they would get loaded in real life. I would also like to get the station loading sequence right (loading the right racks in the right order) as well as the release. This looks to be adjustable, no? I’ve noticed some stores load in the right way and others load the wrong racks in the wrong order.
To my knowledge, we still can’t define how stores load depending on numbers? By that, I mean a -27 would be loaded on LC2/RC2 if we were loading one, but would be loaded on LC1/LC3/RC1/RC3 if we were loading two? Pretty sure that’s a limit of the sim but there might have been changes to allow for that by now?
Also, this is a far-fetched hope, there is no ability to write rules in the data files to limit certain stations from being loaded if stores are loaded on other stations is there? By that I mean, if you load up a station, another station may be ruled invalid to hold a store? This is nothing more than a ‘pipe dream’ so I figure it’s a no but never hurts to ask. By example, if LGBs are loaded on STA2/8 (wing plyons), then A/A cannot be loaded on wing stations due to the fin interference. The two options as an alternative would be to not allow the LGBs to be loaded as it’s really not common to fly without A/A strores, or just allow it, and give a little on the realism.
Anyways, just looking to find some stuff to mess with and try to make better. If successful, no problem sharing either…

Except for limiting stores based on other stores. (AA/AG, or one vs many) Everything you said should be possible.
If you can give us a clear list of changes, we can try. (Just PM me)
Thanks!

Thanks URI, I think I see a way forward. One immediate question. If the load order is not defined in the bmsrack.dat file, do the stores just begin loading from the ‘0’ rack and then 1,2,3, etc? Is that also the release sequence? I see some stores have a defined load sequence and some do not and are missing from the file it looks like?
Can do, it just may be easier for me to mess around with and adjust the file and then copy paste the text from the .dat files….would save you a ton of time too.

I dig it! Little studying of the other lines in the file and saw I could have multiple ‘addloadorder’ options in there. There’s incentive enough to keep messing around with it when I have time!

Two questions for anyone that might have the knowledge stowed away in their heads…
1. Does anyone know how many aicraft use the ‘no-plyon’ wing station and have them as part of there LOD? I’m trying to load the SUU dispenser for the BDU-33 (realistic) but not sure what other aircraft I would be effecting by doing so.
2. Does anyone know why the first BDU-33 loads directly to the rack for the first bomb before either loading a TER/SUU for more than one? Looks weird and appears all aircraft that carry BDU-33s do it (at least that I have tried). Looks weird.
okay…three questions.
3. Does stores load/release sequence actually effect CG of aircraft?

3- yes for AFM aircrafts

Okay, thanks for that. -15 doesn’t appear to be an AFM model, so doesn’t sound like an issue. I have the load configs done(I think), but the release sequence is off (looks silly to me anyway). I’m going to mess with it and see if the commands exists to control the release like you can with the load order. If it doesn’t work out, at least I know it’s not going to hamper the flight model.
Just a quick FM question for you, and tell me to shut up if I’m going down a rabbit hole. Does altering the engine trim schedule (ex. -229 mil power 97% vs 100%) effect the overall thrust amount or does it still use the full value of what’s in the FM table even though it doesn’t show 100% RPM? How about idle? Just doing some research to see where I might be able to suggest improvements for the -15 as a whole.
BTW: nice work making the idle thrust increases in SEC mode while on the ground, that’s neat!
