TGP Point Track Headaches
-
What he means is that he can’t lock the building with point track mode the one when you get tracker square box, so you can boresight the MAVs. Sometimes it gets tricky i usually pick something that is big with nice edges and separated from other buildings so the TGP can lock onto it. Also you can switch the BHOT/ WHOT sometimes it can help with locking.
This is what he wants to do http://www.unitedoperations.net/w/images/thumb/b/b3/TGPpoint.jpg/300px-TGPpoint.jpg
Oh it sounded like to me that his main problem was the camera began slewing way off target. My bad.

aim at the bottom of the building
that’s where the building’s “object” is

Thanks for the replies, guys. I’m about to record a short video demonstrating exactly what my process is and the results. I should be done with it some time tonight, probably late. I’ll upload the video to YouTube and post the url here.

Here’s the video, guys. I just got done recording and uploading it. I hope this clears up any confusion as to my methodology. Thanks for the help!!

May try this:
After switching SOI to the TGP, press TMS Right to command Area Track, this will ground stabilize the TGP.
Then you can slew around and it will stay where you have it pointed, slew over the target, then TMS Up to command Point Track. -

Can’t remember for sure. I am just grasping at straws here, but to me it looks almost like the HAT is fubar. So when jetguy presses TMS Up and then releases the HAT it rocks back and hits TMS Dn. In other words, an intermittent switch problem in the HAT. Maybe map TMS Up and Dn to some other HAT just for testing purposes and let us know if that changed the behavior at all?
And correct me if I am wrong but TMS Dn twice removes ground stabilization? If true, then that would explain the lock getting interrupted and also the drift because TMS Dn is firing more than once. Maybe not bc in the video it looks like the TGP is drifting during IR Point.
I was going to try to duplicate this but I got my game rig all out of whack at the moment.

What are you using for slewing your cursor? Because it looks like it is not staying stable and constantly commands input to the cursor

The FCR yes, but then you are changing the SOI to the TGP, which needs to be ground stabilzed, hense, the TMS Right command.

It could be the drift with the cursor is playing a factor. I’ll try using my Warthog throttle in the same TE and see how that works. I’ll try Ground Stabilization as well.

Sorry to Necro but I’ve been having the same issues as Jetguy06 and it was indeed down to hardware problems. Recalibrating my ministick and re-applying a small deadzone (that had been lost when controller was disconnected) allowed me to gain point track again.
