How often do I actually need to fly in the campaign?
-
Ive wondered this for a while and I am curious as to how often I actually have to fly to ensure my allies are successful. I have seen some people say that allied unit performance both 2d and 3d is based upon pilot rating and other posts ive read that have said that you need to fly every 2 hours or you ground troops will start losing (if the latters the case I dont seem to notice it much). So whats the actual verdict here? How often do I actually have to fly missions and have them be successful. It gets boring doing AI and BARCAPs to fill time after a while.

According to the user manual if you don’t fly much or have low mission ratings it will affect your sides morale. I’m not sure exactly how much you should fly but it goes that the more you fly and the better your rating the more successful your side will be. If you’re finding the missions start to become boring I suggest fragging your own missions for important targets. Also have a read of the campaign section in the user manual.

There is a option value you can set to “Falcon BMS.cfg”
set g_nNoPlayerPlay #
Possible values 1, increasing incremental
Default is 2sets the hours to run a campaign without suffering player not flying, where # is the number of hours of no player flights.
F.i. if u set 720, these are the hours that the campaign will run without being degraded even if player does’nt fly.

Cool didnt know about this, will it mess anything up if I change it mid campaign.
Could that be why during the Rolling Fire Campaign im currently running the ground progress seems really slow (day 5 and only just now getting to Wonsan, still havent gotten past the DMZ on the west coast) or could it have something to do with me frequently running the campaign at 64x speed.
-
Again, according to the manual you shouldn’t run the clock past x16 speed or you will have issues.

yeah literally just learned that today when looking for a definiteve answer on this, what specific problems does it cause?
Manual isnt really great on giving specifics on how the campaign works in regard to this stuff

Not 100% sure what issues may arise but I assume troop movement and maybe that there are too many things happening for the campaign engine to manage.

that might explain the slow progress despite me absolutely crushing the DPRK and now PLA forces
There is a option value you can set to “Falcon BMS.cfg”
Also I wasnt able to find the specified line in the cfg file, it doesnt appear to be in there.

Add it.

You will also need to remember to change PAK priorities as the war goes on or they will get to a point and just stop since their priorities from the start have been met.

Or during the ‘absolutely crushing’ some enemy bridges got hit too, stalling the advance?

There are two factors present:
1. How long without flying until team gets negative effect.
2. How strong negative effect is.If the default value for #1 is “2” then negative effect begins after 2h but strength of negative effect #2 has varied wildly in Falcon versions from basically nothing to very strong. I think I remember that current value is not that strong so even if it happens no big deal but I don’t know.
