What's up with those rumors

About the clouds, though I believe we discussed it (?), couldn’t they be like an upside down terrain and weather data create layers of height and be like balloons (3d objects procedurally created so not to be the same and mix them like on the bottom be darker gray cause of rain - humidity containment) where the air stream will push them to their path, trajectory - velocity…
Or on current ones (sorry I don’t recall how many layers are now) to add sub layers like 2 more per layer. So the ones now be the middle layer and the 2 new one on top and the other underneath. The on top more white and the beneath darker.
Like
1st layer White or Light Gray or Gray or Dark gray
2nd layer White or Light Gray or Gray or Dark gray
3d layer White or Light Gray or Gray or Dark grayand mix and much them according to weather… and cloud size.
like a small cloud could have
1st layer Light Gray
2nd layer Gray
3d layer Dark Graya huge cloud (I like it when I use such scientific terminology… driving u crazy with my extensive knowledge on everything  )
1st layer White
2nd layer Light Gray
3d layer Dark GrayI like them much as they are just talking for the future future future…

technical details aside, It’ll also be interesting to see if they hop on to the “office 365 / win10” looney train and only offer a monthly subcription based licensing model…
All the best, Uwe

I hope not. Id been entertaining some ideas of purchasing this product.

TBH it’d be a total “no go” critera for me if they decide in favour of a subscription model (that and the most likely lacking Linux support, of course :))
All the best, Uwe

Me too, it really looks groundbreaking. I’ll be on 600MB U/D fiber in a few weeks so if the data is an online feed it shouldn’t be too bad!

As I stated before, downloading FS 2020 scenery on the fly will have an effect in MP. While you are downloading your scenery as you go, your upload shares that same bandwidth. Guess what? Your upload will drop. So, it becomes a bandwdith issue really. Also as I stated, BMS will use something more akin to Ottera (maybe not as LOD demanding, time will tell). It would be what works best for BMS. And again, it is not the engine that is in question here. Remember, DX11.3 is an instruction set that allows the GFX engine of the sim to produce those procedural effects. It comes down to the terrain textures and YES, the models on that terrain (i.e. buildings, roads, ect.).
“IF” BMS goes to a DX11.3 engine, it will have far more instructions to take advantage of for the terrain. Even if BMS goes DX11.3 with the “stock” (current) terrain, there would be a noticeable improvement just by doing so. It boils down to creating those textures and allowing the engine to perform it’s magic. LOD’s and scaling would be where the code lines of procedural effects on the objects/terrain would be the workhorse for the type of scenery we see in FS 2020. Again, it is not the engine specifically, rather what you can do with the instructions within the engine. Unity and Unreal have free downloads available. Those are engines (complete). Don’t know if BMS would need a hole new engine or not. Only I-Hawk or other DEV’s in the know could answer that question. The GFX side of things is it’s own entity. “IF” BMS does go with upgrading to DX11.3, the GFX engine might need a lot of code work just to utilize SOME of the DX11.3 instruction sets. Might need to “sow in” a new GFX engine.

I’m curious what you mean exactly about DX11.3? I know some of the 11.3 features, the one I know the most is related to tiled resources, but that is NOT about quality, it is more of a way to handle dynamic loading better and take advantage of HW virtual texturing ability.
AFAIK there is no difference if you render with DX11, DX11.3, DX12, Vulkan etc… API is an API to execute commands on the GPU, eventually it is what you do and how you do it that will make a difference (API along with the HW of course open up more features for you). i.e there is no such thing as - DX11.3 will get you better look of X without you do any change to it.
Problem with DX11.3 is that it sets a must on Windows 10, and that is a no-go.
-
Isnt that going to be a moot point in a couple months time anyway? W7 is about to run out of security support, which will make W10 the only viable option on windows.
-
win 8.x has some life left in it I think
Nothing’s wrong with running win7 after EOL if you keep it safely isolated and only run BMS on it. (or even better, run BMS under WINE on an up-to-date Linux system although 4.34 seems to have some problems on WINE atm while 4.33 appears to run fine).
I guess many pit builders will choose the former option as to not break their setup at Microsoft’s whim during the next forced win10 upgrade.
All the best, Uwe

Hey Hawk!
I was like this as well until I was convinced there is really no reason to stick with win 7. So eventually I upgraded to 10 and there is no looking back. No problems whatsoever.
Especially looking in the future - months or even years ahead, I think Blue is right: Win 7 support should be no constraint.
keep sharp!

I’m on Win10 as well, sure, since 4-5 years now I think (Maybe less? Not sure but I switched pretty fast after it became stable). But the situation is more complicated than just my own choice

I had to laugh at the guy arguing with Mav-JP, saying he couldnt possibly know whether the BMS FM is accurate or made up….

Are way too many idiots which is not a problem as long as they avoid topics which requires knowledge and not only faith.

@I-Hawk, please, do not get provoked by this asshole.

No worries

yeah, hopefully as you might have noticed, i am under XANAX since DCS F16 release

Oh, if only BMS team had some professional engineers or something……
Im laughing so hard right now XD

Wow lots of broken hearts on that reddit. Bad , Bad BMS forum!
