KTO campaign: AI wingman and element not shooting AG target
-
Hello guys,
sometimes it happens that my wingman or elements don’t shoot targets.
Near the target, I am the leader, what should I do?- should I give the “attack targets” command?
- or weapons free?
- or again, do I have to select the targets from my SOI and give the “Attack my target” command?
thank you all
-
Generally, locking a target and giving an “attack my target” has worked best for me. In AA, for example, as you’re heading for the merge, lock a target, give the “AMT”, then unlock and engage the one you want to
F, AI behavior, especially in AG mode, is an arcane art that has been discussed many time here. I’m frequently surprised BMS does as well as it does, but you have to help it. So, I try for the most direct command I can. -

Depends…
If you are telling your wingman to attack a single target (bridge, building, single enemy tank/APC/SAM etc.) I would say use “Attack My Target”. If there is a group of targets, such as a battalion, use the “Attack Target” command. I rarely use “Weapons Free” simply because the Wingman AI tend to go off on a wild goose chase 20, 30, 50 NM’s away to attack some arbitrary target. SO if you want to keep close tabs on your wingman, then use either “Attack” commands. If you don’t care what he attacks then use weapons free (with caution). Hope this helps.
Cheers,

ok so…
Attack Targets: Directive call to attack targets with default sort doctrine. It is assumed that lead will target the enemy lead and wingmen will target enemy wingmen counterparts. Rather than the “Attack My Target” where everyone attacks the same target here it’s more a 2 vs 2 or 4 vs 4 scenario. In air to ground mode, the AI will attack briefed targets and prioritise them as assigned in the briefing. They may execute multiple passes until you call them to rejoin. (Will be greyed out if no target is available.)
in the case in bold, AG mode, the AI will attack the most important target in the list of brefing
but if we are in 4 ship, and i’m the lead, in this case, what happens?
leave me the main target?
or attack all 3 together, the same target with higher priority? -
AI doesn’t attack the object you’re targeting when you issue the command.

Ok thanks, this is great!!!
Back to work, ty sir! -
In my experience, when I set a mission, for example attacking several preplanned targets with JDAMs, At the recon screen I select and set all the target waypoints I want my flight to attack.- Once near from the target, I switch my nav. waypoint to the target waypoint I want my wingman to attack, lock the target,(I dont think locking it, is mandatory) give the “attack my target” order, and repeat that succesively and continuously for all the targets I want my wingman to attack.- I noticed that my wingman obeys my order and attacks every target I ordered to.-

This is exactly what i do, but as say lorik before, you can focus on your desired target, and then give to the whole flight the command “attack target”, they will attack not your same target
This is more usefull and easy to execute
