Vehicles on Alt Strip Runway
-
U1 Installed. Played a SEAD mission out of Choongwon airbase and afterwards was diverted to Alt Base which was R605 airstrip. Coming for landing out of clouds and vehicles were turning in circles on landing runway (and were doing the same on other parts of the base). FYI.

Yeah. Airstrips don’t have SAM point for now.
-
-
Nevermind.
-
What is a SAM point?
A defined set of co-ordinates for ground vehicles to come to a halt to when reaching certain objectives.
-
oh, thanks. So I assume best to move any ALT base from an airstrip to a major airport.

if you consider the name “airstrips”, these are not real airbases, as such not as maintained or safe as airbases are or might be - often they are a simple portion of motorway or a dirt road or even a grass strip (in real life)
As a pilot, I always do a visual recon of the airstrip before landing there. You overfly the airstrip check it visually and decide to land if safety conditions are met
and I land only if I have no other choice.IMHO, the airstrips should not be used as planned alternate, the code should use airbase only and fuel should be taken into consideration for reaching an airbase vs a airstrip
For instance when doing TE, i never use airstrips for alternate.it would make a more logic behaviour from the code IMHO

No. SAM points are points that are assigned to and around an objective.
When you Assign a SAM or AAA unit to that objective they sit at those specific points as Air defenses!
