Turbulence causes runaway roll trim on manual trim panel trim wheel.

While flying in turbulent conditions the manual roll trim wheel moves to either left or right maximum position causing uncomanded roll. This is an uncomanded movement of the roll trim wheel which can be corrected with a command to reset trims. I have experienced this while approaching close to a tanker, while flying parade formation, and on approaches in turbulent conditions.Pictures

1. Approach pre-contact position; autopilot off; refueling switch to open
2. Alternatively, fly through turbulent weather; auto pilot off.
3. Alternatively, fly an approach in turbulent conditions
4. Alternatively, fly close formationExpected Behavior
Uncomanded roll input. Visual check of manual trim panel reveals the roll trim thumb wheel has moved to a left or right extreme position. -
Hello
This is a problem with your keystroke / input
Totally unrelated with turbulences conditions -
Thanks for the feedback. I understand what you mean and initially thought the same. I use Thrustmaster TARGET and have remapped everything to ensure I only have stick trims bound. I have nothing bound to the F9, 10, 11 keystrokes for trim. It also never seems to happen when I’m flying in smooth conditions and using stick trims. It’s perplexing but I can work around it. I’ve bound a button to command TRIM RESET (Alt-Return). As soon as I experience the trim induced roll I hit the button and the trim re-centers. It doesn’t seem to happen a second time after commanding TRIM RESET. I’ll keep at it. I’m sure your right but, I’ll be darned if I can find the cause.

Please try without Joystick selected or plugged first … If you can repro, then it is not tied to joystick/mapping.

Not sure which HOTAS is being used but it also is definitely not an issue with TARGET as I’ve never had a runaway trim issue with my TM WH running through TARGET.

I’m using the Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS with TARGET.
I’ve removed the mapping for stick trim from my TARGET profile and made DX assignments in the keyfile instead. The DX assignments work great!
So you guys were correct, as expected.
The rest of my TARGET profile works perfectly.
Does anyone have any recommendations for TARGET settings for the trim?
Just curious to understand how I messed it up.
I’ve only recently started with BMS and am really loving!
The dynamic immersion is great for single player simming.
Thanks again.
