Is it worth to update to 4.34.1?
-
In 20+ years Flying Falcon 4.0 when have we ever had a version bug free? As far as I can tell there are no real show stoppers IMO, so I think it has a lot of nice features that out weighs typical bugs that many of us are use to.
-
i read some U1 bug reports, some are serious bugs, e.g. RWR texture error, radio fail, or new CTD. maybe more i haven’t read.
so is it a good time to update now? or wait for next one?U1 introduced some new (no critica) bugs BUT don’t forget : U1 fixed many many issues present in 4.34 (some of them was critical)
TvT MP Campaign event that is currently running with 4.34 U1 is very very stable for clients and server.

I’d nuance my answer:
There is at least one showstopper with U1, it’s the Choongwon CTD, identifiable and reproduceable. That’s the definition of BMS showstopper
This at least should be a hi priority fix and there are many bugs introduced by 4.34.1 which were not there in 4.34, but theses are much less lower on the priority list.If you fly MP, or if you fly TvT you don’t really have a choice and you have to upgrade.
If you striclty fly solo, you don’t and the decision to update is depending on how you are impacted by the CTD or the less minor bug.if there’s a hotfix coming or an update 2 to fix all the above, then it won’t be a problem. And I’m sure we will see that in the future.
the problem isn’t really updating to 4.34.1, the problem would be the lack of further hotfix/update. But I’m confident this will not happenSo to me personaly, it all comes down to the next fix and in the interim it’s wait and see.
Stability wise (as long as you stay away from Choongwon) it’s a pleasure to fly and as BadBoy said the TvT flights are very enjoyable. -
I’m on U1 (updated the day it was released) and haven’t had any issues (I’ve started a new balkans campi and haven’t flown much online yet, so YMMV).
I also share the view expressed here that we’re “all testers” and I think it’s more or less mandatory to always use the latest patch to “reward and honour” the hours the devteam is putting in on the BMS community’s behalf. What’s the point for them fixing bugs & adding new features if people refrain from updating?
All the best,
Uwe

4.34 U0 had many critical bugs as well such as SU27 series ejecting for “no reasons”––
4.34 U1 has a critical CTD on Choongwon. The workaround is to desactivate the airbaseso finally, saying that U0 is more stable than U1 is total urban legend. Both have 1 critical CTD and one is more easy to fix (U1) than the other (U0)

I don’t think anyone said that 4.34.0 was more stable than 4.34.1.
So there is no urban legend -

his post implies that U1 is more bugged than U0 and it is better to wait ….
This is what i call a Urban Legend spraying…

Does this mean simply should not be put any sq. there?

Just desactivate the squadrons (set human control) and remove existing flights already fragged from those squadrons

If somebody does not wish to create flights manually?

i dont understand the question
You said if anybody wants avoid CTD because of Choongwon airbase delete the flights and set human contro for sq. there
In this case flights are not generated automatiucaly = sq. has 0 power you have to create the flights manually.
But if you do not wish to do this it is easier to delete or replace the sq. with Mission Commander.Is this correct?

no
you dont want the airbase to be active so YOU DONT CREATE FLIGHS MANUALLY !!!

I had some dozen TE flights in stock u0, missions always populated with at least 6 choppers (2 Apaches, 2 Chinook, 2 Seahawk) flying around Kunsan, never experienced something weird or ctd’s… Maybe I or mission did not triggered the corresponding action that should result in a ctd;

it was happening when aircrafts were targeting choopers in BVR

I have a full pit video of one night mission where I downed the 2 Apaches with one -120 and one IrisT, also tracked the scene on Landirn TGP pod, nothing bad happened. :noidea:
Just discussing this loud, maybe no need to since it is fixed; in u1. Maybe the ctd involving AI attacking the choppers;

so is it a good time to update now? or wait for next one?Gear, IMHO, I’d update. Firstly, if we don’t act as crash test dummies(pun intended), how can BMS evolve? Secondly, I seen over the years that not everyone has the same bugs. For example, as I generally gravitate to the Balkans, TVT issues don’t effect me. I can say that in KTO,Balkans, and K’2012(those I’ve flown in U1)in the Viper,Hornet, and SH, I’ve not had anything I would call a bug . I did have an issue with the Rhino, but that was resolved with s some acdata tweaking. Thirdly, my Super Hornet issue raises another point. It was a head scratcher for awhile, but it was ultimately corrected. The point is, IF you update and get a bug or 2, the odds are vastly in your favor they won’t be “showstoppers”

It crashed when AI aircrafts were engaging choppers in BVR

My 2 cents is that U1 is much better for SOLO flying (I do not do MP btw). I did discover the Choongwon issue, but frankly I have had no CTD issues by just not flying any missions from it. It is still active and creating AI flights in my campaign but, again, I’m just not joing any flights out ofit. Just an FYI. But this issue is far less a problem, in my opinion, than the helo CTDs I had previously.
