FPS of Intel HD 620 & Nvidia MX130
-
Recently I got a new NB (I5xRAM 8GxHD620 with MX130)
I did a full day of testing today, I turned off the BMS launcher all about cloud options.
HD 620 without using intel control panel, get stable in the presence of dark cloud on the ground and in the sky.
FPS–>27~33 very comfortable.MX130 with using control panel, but turn off almost all options, only use its GPU operations.
FPS–>ground 50~27 sky dark cloud 22~12 there are a lot of gaps, the experience is not good.I think the could is not optimized in Nvidia?!
or what did I do wrong? -
Nvidia cards work very good (In fact I’d say the EXE performs better for Nvidia than AMD, no real reason or purpose just IIRC it’s that way).
Not much to do here beside upgrade your GPU I guess. GTX-940 is I assume hardly suitable for gaming. And in the future things will get even more demanding.

I have successfully adjusted, use MX-130 to fly directly to the dark clouds, FPS–>ground and sky 25~38 and stable.

The engine shows its age sadly :(.
With my rig i still get down to even 40-50 FPS on ground in Osan_Taegu TE mission. While in DCS i get 80+ and comparing airborne FPS - DCS locked 150 FPS @22000ft above water / BMS rarely above 130+ in same scenario and a huge difference in utilisation - DCS uses 95%+ of GPU while BMS rarely 40%.Everything is 1440p maxed out also GSYNC monitor really helps even with that 40FPS when looking still you cant tell that you have 40FPS.
Upgrading from 6600k and GTX 1070 to what i have now basically didnt get me any extra performance at all in BMS .

I think a powerful CPU is the main reason for increasing FPS, So after I turned off Nvidia`s Phys-X, never fly from the smooth ground to a blunt dark cloud, I turned off almost all its functions, but the screen looks similar……

Yeah engine is really a CPU bound but even 5GHz on every core isnt enough. The more objects are around even simple ones like square buildings the less FPS you will get. I went from 4.6GHZ on my i5 6600K to 5Ghz with i9 9900KF and results are pretty much same. Installing JanHas models would crush FPS even more in that stock TE where the airbase is full of objects. Same stuff happens in Classic WoW where you get many players in one spot even with lowest settings your FPS will drop drastically because of how the engine handles everything yet both CPU and GPU usage will remaing below 50% ( usually only one core will run at 100% rest will be doin nothing. ).
For an example DOOM Eternal looks insane i play it on max settings with locked 150 FPS even in situations where you fight tons of stuff, shits exploding everywhere and still FPS will rarely drop below 140. CPU usually sits around 50-60% of usage and GPU around 95-98%. But ID Tech Enigne 7 is so well optimized its crazy.
Same problem with DX9 API is having remake of original Half Life game. The Black Mesa especially in the Xen level, there are few places where they packed soo many stuff that my FPS would get crushed and it will run at 50-70 FPS instead of 150 yet with low CPU / GPU usage. DX9 has its own limits yet see for yourself what you can achive with that
. The Xen looks better than most of new games running on DX 11 / 12 or Vulkan today.Just a quick note DX9 released in 2002 and the last 9.0c in 2005 so it is a 15year old API.
Lets hope that in 3-4 weeks we get some new nice DX11 BMS enigne which can take advantage of powerfull HW we have atm so we can enjoy better models and more static objects everywhere

Yes you will…
Current engine has ran its course. It is limited and of course not utilizing anything efficiently, as I explained in the past in other thread.

or what did I do wrong?Im using MX130 with my laptop (I7 8th gen) and i get a solid 60 FPS game experience.
The magic lays in low graphic settings and low resolution (1600x1200).
This GPU is not suited for hardcore gaming (like sims) unfortunately…
Go to Falcon configuration and reduce everything you see in sight - enjoy your flight comrade! -
DOOM is a good game, I have played the first three generations, my young memories….
I will try to get a balance between picture and performance, thanks guys.

i upgraded from a gt1030 to RX570 and i got less fps, bad optimization i think
