LGB Woes (NOT about TGP POINT mode)
-
So I’m having issues with LGBs. Laser armed, target designated, release, the bombs track the target until about the last two seconds. For some reason they flare away from the target and miss. I’m flying level, TGP tracking target, laser not masked. Yet almost always the LGB will turn away from the target within the last two seconds and miss. Any thoughts?

It’s modeling new ALBU (anti-laser bomb unit) selfprotection. There are sensors on the unit top, a processing unit and some enters. They capture the incoming transmission, do some signal processing magic on it -much like the jammer systems do- and then the self protection unit emitters spread out the same modes and frequencies and the bomb warhead gets confused and fly for simulated fake indicators.
…Just kidding!
Do you have laser arm on?(something like that is possible to do, and I think I remember test systems like this, but they are not on combat units that I know… And not in Falcon.)

he said Laser Arm was on.

True, sorry, did read with mobile.
Only thing I could think… If the release geometry is unfavorable, and the bomb trajectory becomes too hard to fly even if the bomb guides. That is: if the bomb is about to fly past, it will even when the guidance tries to steer.Problem is that this would need some kind of bug in release algorithm… Similar to the now gone TGP tracking problem. Does the same problem happen with any kind of target, at any location? Where do you have this missing problem?

If you’re flying level the laser starts to paint the backside of the target while the bomb is still on the front side as your airplane flies over the top. I don’t know if it’s a problem in Falcon but it is in real life. Buddy lasing or doing a crank turn after release tries to keep the bomb and emitter on the same side.

I’m not sure (of anything), but, its seems like the TGP was updated in U1 patch. It is ground stabilizing at high elevation (mountains), faster servo/gyro. Can someone confirm? good news for pak-indo
@bb84
did you install the patch?
and where was the target? -
Yes, this is BMS 4.32. Target was Kotar range, stock LGB TE training mission. I tried several of the range targets: F4’s, bullseye rings, etc. It also happened in the same mission when I tried bombing some apartment buildings several miles away. I was having troubles at the range, so I thought I’d try on a ‘real’ target (i.e. building). I’ll have to try next weekend. I have NO time until then!

try slewing the TGP ‘a little more on target’ as you fly over…i usually have to make a bit of an adjustment, because the laser is hard to put exactly on target at that angle, at the moment the bombs actually leave your jet (it’s much easier to put the laser directly on target from an overhead angle, when your bombs are already well on their way). A few times i’ve made an adjustment about 1-1.5 seconds from impact (with L flashing on the TGP MFD page) and still got a direct it. Hopefully that fixes your problem.

KOTAR range is weird. Does anyone else see in recon that the target are 20’+ in mid air? Maybe the laser is locked to the objects and the laser is sweeping the ground under them. Bombs would follow a moving shine.
-
@ simdudeBMS: yes, I slew the target cursors as I go. It’s only a slight adjustment. I’ll try again next week.

Thanks for the replies fellas!

Im Having the same problem when using the TE>LGB?
I have read the manual and also watch 3-5 different YouTube tutorials.I my bombs never hit with the TGP Laser designation. Only in CCIP can I cancel christmas!
MUST BE A MAJOR BUG NO?

MUST BE A MAJOR BUG NO?
This thread is about 7 years old, there is no issue with LGB training TE or indeed any other.
Why not start a new thread, and provide us with full details of what YOU are experiencing? Perhaps do a video?

Thanks Malc, I will do this.
My cursor also races off screen when trimming flight surfaces? or aligning target?
