RWR problem

Guys i have a problem or something wrong with RWR
I have been hit by sam missiles ,mig 29 and su 27 missiles
Alot of times without receiving rwr warning ,it even not appear on rwr screen
My rwr is on and its warning tone is also onIs this a bug or something else ?
-
That’s what the SU pilot was complaining about when your AMRAAM tagged him.
-
Just be aware, that the RWR does not respond to IR threats, next mission check the log and see what blindly shot you down, bring it back here, and we can help advise, also check your handoff, …few more details please. HC

Ты слишком близко к русским самолетам. У них есть P 73. Он работает на оптическом наведении OLS (OLS - optical-location station). Поэтому ваш RWR молчал.
and not only P-73. There is also P27Э, also OLS - a range of about 40 km. Be careful. And they could just shoot you out of the gun)) So the same thing happens.
Never rely on only one thing - RWR, you always need to look at 360 degrees - turn your head and you will live longer.

There is an air battle tactic of entering and exiting combat. You need to learn.Learn to always interact with AWACS, learn to use the radar, it is multi-level and not simple. Then everything will work out.
Read the Red Dog … he will not teach bad. He has a great, great work on the subject. This is a great man and his great work - manual Falcon.

You have to learn vigilance to watch for smoke in the air. And from the ground. And the two look different, and can fool you into complacency on either/or.
Then you have to learn last ditch missile defense…

R-27 is not particularly great, at far as missiles go. It has a long range for an IR missile, but it’s not very maneuverable. It should also be quite vulnerable to flares.
In VVR combat, always keep sight of the target. You will see the bandit launch a missile like an R-27T. You can then begin maneuvering and dropping flares. Best of all, don’t give the enemy a chance to launch. A head-on launch of an IR missile has a poor chance of hitting anything, even if it’s an AIM-9X, nevermind an R-27. To get a good shot off with something like an R-27T, the enemy fighter needs to get on your tail, or close enough to it. That means either sneaking up on you, or out-dogfighting you. In an F-16, the former can be prevented by keeping good situational awareness, and the latter should not happen unless you haven’t practiced your dogfighting skills enough. Fighters that can take the F-16 in a dogfight (generally advanced MiG-29 and Su-30 variants) don’t usually carry the rather old-ish R-27, but R-60s or even R-73s, and these will clean your clock if you get too close.
TBH, the best way of winning here is to beat them before they can start. Use the jammer to deny the bandit a radar lock and launch an AMRAAM at his face before he can get into burnthrough range. And if you’re out of AMRAAMs, don’t go messing with advanced enemy fighters. I’ve nailed the MiG-29 in guns training TE with the cannon a few times (usually after wasting my AIM-9Xs with poor angle shots), but it has worked out the other way around, too.

May I suggestion this: Electronic Warfare Fundamentals

Are you turning Handoff on?

perhaps more flare than chaff is helpful when shot at by an IR missile. Prog 2 on CMDS will dispense more flares. Usually the source of the IR missile shows up on the RWR, if an enemy jet is behind you for some seconds and no missile warning then turn around and watch for the smoke mentioned above. The new BMS models the smoke nicely.

Again hit by hawk missile without any warning
I need help -
There are LOTS of systems out there that can shoot you down without any warning…using any number of tricks.
Key is to keep your head on a swivel and to spot them shooting (it’s always the missile you don’t see that kills you)…and/or to avoid flying into their WEZ entirely. After that, it’s all about last ditch missile defense. And maintaining lookout for that second shot…

Always expect something can hit you without any sign on the RWR. The most probable thing is that something hits you without warning are IR missiles. Sometimes their firing aircraft may lock you with radar but if smart they won’t. The same with SAMs, i.e. SA-6 or especially manpads (no radar at all).
AND: some weapons even have other possibilities of guidance like TV or HOJ (Home on jamming if you are using your ECM). Especially the SA-10 is ugly nasty in Falcon
There is a really good PDF around here about your problem, called The Vault from TeeSquare:
https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?26874-Threat-GuideFor Hawk, I can see in there it has HOJ capabilities and to some extend optical guidance. You will not see it on your RWR if it doesn’t use its radar.
Edit: Best avoidance of unseen threats is to stay high above 20.000ft. Then it is more probable you get a RWR warning (except SA-10). IR missiles are most short range and will not fire into such high altitudes. Study your route for the biggest threats before flying. Listen to your wingman, he will call to you launches most times.

Agree 100%, and I guess I need to start running ACMI as my 1st Ingress in the Desert Storm (Kuwait) Campaign I was cruising at 23k at the IP and WHAM, ball of flame going 450 kts… No launch warning, no bogies I ever saw within 20km, nothing. Starting to wonder if a 120 went Mad Dog as the sky was pretty busy…

Thank you Atze
But , what if i fly and my ECM is Off and my radar is silent
Are these missiles will targeting me or they cant see me ?
