How to learn as new user?
-
Hello just joined the forum so i might be posting this in the wrong place.
My english is not that good be warned.
Does anyone have ant tips on how to learn the game as someone that is new to modern avionics.
I have played ww2 fighter sims before and i am used to read long manuals for board games but the manual for falcon bms is filled with abbreviations the as a new player i have no idea what they mean.I have been slogging my way through the manual by reading what a button does then i have to google what it means.
It is getting really frustrating when you finally get the time to sit down and read the manuals to just get a few sentences in before you have to google what means that the ils appeares on the adi and hsi.Is there any sort of documentation or guide the contains all the explanations for the abbreviations?
Appreciate any help i can get. Thanks

As a recent “new guy” myself I would reccomend the following
A - Read the manuals - A lot of great and needed info there
B - Use the Training Manual and the Training TEs to get familiar with systems and weapons
C - Join the Falcon Lounge Discord and meet / fly with people there. I hooked up with some great folks and they definitely got my skill and knowledge level upWelcome to BMS!

What is your natural language? There are abbreviation guides/spreadsheets out there, maybe a good place to start but I believe the training manuals explain fairly well…

This is what I use

Sounds more like you’re struggling with the English. I’d recommend finding a squadron in your language. I also believe there are manuals translated to a few other languages as well.

Hope you all have a great weekend. -
As mentioned before maybe join Falcon Lounge Discord. It’s more casual than a SQN in the first place, but also experienced BMS pilots over there and you might join Multiplayer as long as you know the basics. And even to learn the basics a great place to ask

Gotta share a link to Jeffu’s blog post again - it’s just too good for beginners setting up controls for the first time. He discusses what keys we need to access most often, and what should be bound to a joystick or HOTAS Flight Stick setup, and what can remain as keyboard commands or mouse-click switches in the cockpit. He goes into more detail in Part 2, and has a few other blog posts about things for beginners and also on the subject of git’ing gud at Falcon BMS:
