Adding model planes to dB tutorial
-
This rar file comes with everything needed and a picture filled tutorial. It is an example of adding f35a from ccc low poly toys to Israel.
But the lessons from here work for other theaters as well.
Also included is f22pit from Metalhead.
This tutorial covers the basics and has been tested by dfang.Same tutorial is in three different formats web, pdf, and word pad.
Just in case.Tutorial rar download from MediaFire:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/brkdvr4plcix1xo/demo_f35a_FINAL.rar/fileThis should be helpful for inexperienced people that want to explore ccc’s low poly toys, or add other jets that someone put together.

A slightly more detailed tut on using lodedit

Elephant bmp to dds
http://www.mediafire.com/file/5rataq4sb1d21kh/Elephant%2527s_BMP_to_DDS.zip/fileIf you need to use lodedit, above method must be done.
After lodedit adjustments you must extract again and then build normal.
Also I forgot ccc has many bmp texture in toy box.
Elephant bmp to dds works quick and easy. -
Let me be the first to say THANK YOU!!!

With eddropper’s fantastic tutorial I was able to install 3 new aircraft into my Israel db. This tutorial is simply great.
Thank you eddropper.dfang

Thank you, Can somebody make a similiar tutorial for the preparation of 3d model from 3ds to lod? How can we set up animation , materials , textures, lights dof’s etc… linking the parts each other in lodeditor
-
-
Awesome tutorial, thanks. I would also be curious if there’s some resources on using lodeditor - man this program is archaic! I have to go through that for all of my lods since I’m using Blender to create my .3ds files so obviously I can’t use that excellent looking 3ds max plugin they’ve created.
-
Extremely appreciated. But After adding the model Is useable in campaigns?

If it’s all finished correctly, the new jet should be available in list of planes to choose from in Mission Commander .
Falcas’ Mission Commander program is what you use to add or change campaign units.
If plane doesn’t show in the MC pick list there is a snafu in probably campaign/validAC , campaign/TE_planes file, art/main/units, or art/main/textID files .
Also top number on valid AC … check if you remember to change it.
All these have to line up with dB as shown. Typos and number mistakes can make jet disappear from pick list. -

I made one for lodedit too, that is not as detailed. I must wait to find it on my hard drive.
I made this first tut to skip the lodedit process just to simplify adding lods. But I use lodedit often.
Standby and I will find it (eventually)The lodedit tut I made is just how to make it run on 4.34… it’s a process that is documented a few times in these forums somewhere. Probably around the 3ddatabase editor info. I think it May be in directions in falcon bms directory too.
I just make pictures of the process while I did it.
Lodedit comes with a manual in it’s directory for further lodedit help. -
Okay ! I found it….
http://www.mediafire.com/file/1yluw503tgdt1ll/lodedit_tut.rar/file
Purpose of this tut was to show
1 how to make lodedit work in bms 4.34
2 how to adjust textures with lodedit.I’m not great at lodedit, but this part I know well.
I will add to first post also… -
Really Eddropper , you should create a new entire tutorial section as soon as possible , with all your precious tuts inside .
It will benefit to so many ppl ….

Elephant bmp to dds
http://www.mediafire.com/file/5rataq4sb1d21kh/Elephant%2527s_BMP_to_DDS.zip/file(unless I am wrong and missing an option) Don’t use Elephant bmp to dds, it doesn’t add the mipmap.
Prefer Gimp, or nVidia Texture Tool (standalone version or if you have Photoshop you can use the plugin) … or any other sofware able to creat the DDS with mipmap. (Paint.net can also, but quality compression is not very good) DDS is a compressed format, so anytime time you will convert a source into a DDS you will loos a bit of quality. It seem also that Elephant bmp to dds do only ceate DDS in DXT1 format (no DXT3 nor 5 wich are required in some texture using alpha layer).

Nope. Not really. If it is just a 3D model replacement, no prob.
If it is a new aircraft (new DB entry) to get it working in campaign is a complete different story. I would need ten pages and two weeks to explain the entire process of evaluation to create the correct data for DB. SO sorry, I won’t do it.
But know that, if XML DB and .dat are not properly defined after 3D evaluation routine and test, many thing won’t work (no necessarily something visible at first sight) … radar behavior in agged mode, bingo fuel, target engagement … etc … tons of issue (some are critical) can occurs.
So adding a new a/c in the DB is “not something everyone can do”.For “basic mode” … no big deal.
For proper function in campaign … clearly not the same story, many many things can have a dramatic effect. -
This is basic example using f-35.
It shows basically how to copy existing data from another theater.
Just first step in right direction.
To generate brand new data for brand new jet much research and testing and proper fm …etc.If you use f35 as in this tut , it will work in campaign.
All correct xml is added in correct spot. Radar, fuel etc.Same method can be used to copy other jets if they already have all pertinent data .
Or if you want a different f-16 (same block, different model like janhas)
If not… that is beyond my knowledge to create new fm and add correct numbers to falcon edit or xml from scratch.
I understand many areas in falcon edit and xml files.
But I wouldn’t start one from scratch just yet, that’s why it’s not part of tut. Thanks for input on elephant tool. I don’t skin much but I use gimp too.
Only used elephant on ccc low poly toys.
All other skins I’ve gotten were already dds format. -
