Who knows the correct throttle position
-
I have a Cougar throttle and stick and unsure if my throttle is acting correctly. When the throttle is fully retracted my RPM’s drops to 70%. Is this correct or should it be lower. I am having trouble taxing aircraft, it always wants to speed up and I am constantly applying brakes. Also, refueling is not working well. I could just “suck”, I have only tried it once but could not hit and stay with tanker. If someone knows and could point me in right direction, thanks

~70% rpm is ‘idle’. The jet accelerates at ‘idle’ … totally normal.

Unless you’re some kind of natural AAR stud, once is NOT enough. AAR takes practice and is one of the most difficult things in BMS to master. There is a thread around here with air refueling tips. If you search ‘refueling tips’ you may find something useful.

The ol’ by the book method is to let it creep up to 25 knots, brake moderately down to 15, and repeat. 10 or less in the corners especially near MTOW. Dragging the brakes lightly induces more heat and wear than necessary which can be an unpleasant surprise on rejected takeoff or after landing.
AAR is just plane hard.
