i just checked,
the time of the day is taken into account in the visual detection range as well for the unit spotting code
at night :
detection = nominal day / 4
at dawn / dusk
detection = nominal day / 2 ;
So this has an impact on non radar equiped ground units , that will start spotting and shooting at a much closer range
I agree that Moon position and phase are still not factored in the model, but that is mainly because 4.34 does not have a working moon
Okay, thanks. But I got shot at by AAA at more than 20000ft at night (no RWR indication, so visually aimed I guess). Are you sure that night vision can see me that far away? Also, how many North Korean units actually have night vision?
Does it make a difference if Iām in AB or forgot to turm my external lights off?But this explains something extremely weird I had a while back. I was flying home at night on autopilot after firing my last missile, thinking I was already in friendly airspace. I had a Flanker behind me on my RWR, but I thought that it was many miles behind me. It wasnāt. AWACS didnāt respond to for some reason, so I didnāt know. He (also out of missiles) flew directly up to me and gunned me (and I only found out after watching the ACMI). And missed. I was flying straight and level and he missed me. Then, a friendly HAWK fired at him and he turned away (I think the HAWK got him) and I only survived because of that. I initially thought it was because AI generally has problems with guns, but now i think it was because it was night.
And Iām pretty sure that TV mode shouldnāt work in darkness. Actually, the BMS TV mode seems to work at night exactly like it does during the day.

ā¦FLIRā¦yeah, they can see you. That high, the air is really cold and you are throwing out really hot exhaust. So you stick out like a sore thumb and can be optically tracked - hence no RWR indication. And there are gun systems that can shoot that high, dunno if BMS models them or notā¦but I have to guess that it does!
Yes - AB makes it worse, and flying close to Mach 1.0 makes it worse - they call it the āspeed of heatā, right?

If all this is modeled then the MiG-29 shouldnāt have missed at night.

for Manpads, those are IR seekers, therefore they dont need visual,
the signal is dependant on IRsignature of the aircraft, including temperature of engine, presence of plume , speed and aspect.
you can find information here:
https://mega.nz/file/318D0SAB#8zzSq_ZYNtkXJMKvYVZdDSScPcF719Bkc9CkjDWx5do
The position of the SUN in the IR detection is taken into account in the model , because of course Ir contrast depends on sun posit and ground heating.
By night, the IR detection is therefore better because of better contrast of sources
So are you still sure it seriously breaks realism ?
the fog alters the IR source sureā¦ but according a visibility criteria ? or is it just the presence of fog?
I ask this question because I was shoot as well in a fog to be crossed to the knifeā¦:attention: -

I donāt know what sort of IR systems the Mig-29 carriesā¦but rest assured that assets on the ground are generally more capable that assets in the air because they donāt have to worry about being light enough to fly - and so can be more complex.

I ask this question because I was shoot as well in a fog to be crossed to the knifeā¦:attention:Fog should have a similar effect on IR systems as smoke does on laser systemsā¦but possibly not a totally defeating affect in all cases. Lots of variables.

Well, At least I have trouble with guns at night. Even if I have radar lock, aircraft are hard to see with NVGs and aiming at a TD box doesnāt work as well as aiming at a an aircraft.
Also, it was a Flanker, not a MiG-29. I believe it was a Su-30, but it could have been a J-11 as well.

Hello,
There has been some very nice work done to custom airbases in BMS, Osan and Kunsan are splendid. Now, it would be really awesome if we could choose our parking spot ?
Would be cool to be bale to take advantage of those nice HAS shelters, adds to the atmosphere.
So much work has been put into it, the deserve to be taken advantage of, i think this is mainly the purpose of real life looking airbases.

Flying above the overcast layer in poor or inclement weather having trouble seeing the HUD in 2 cockpit view. Would be good to tone down the white a bit maybe a bit more of a grey or darker white.

Iād like to be able to read the QNH pressure (current + forecasted) at the departure and arrival airbases from the weather section of the in-game briefing screen. Why? To adjust performance calculations to the correct conditions for a human flight briefing.
Furthermore, visibility would be nice to have in addition to the current weather definitions on the briefing screen (fair, poor, etc.). This would affect weapon choices.

Clouds will NOT be darken. Visor is there for that as in real

Ā« 2D Ā» cockpit view is not mean to be used
Not meant to be used. Thatās a pity I kind of like that view. Is there a way to put a tint on it at all, so itās like the 3 cockpit view with the visor down. 4.33 was good how it was. Thanks Mav.
And I also have a question about the F/A-18, when I hit mach 0.91 the flaps go up slightly and AoA increases which is noticeable in high altitude cruise and the plane kind of twitches a bit, is it meant to do that?

Possible to make P2P multiplayer not have to exit /restart /rejoin the entire game after leaving the 3D world?

Iād bet the devs want that 300% more than you do, soā¦

honnestly ? i dont think so
what is funny is that people think this is for P2P only
in SP this is mandatory as well

Obviously. And for testing, of course. Thatās why I thought youād find it more comfortable, but ok.
